2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The Grammy Awards are always one of the most fun red carpets of the year. I’ve always been excited to see what the stars will bring and I have to say that is still true this year. I have been quite happy with many of the previous music awards events. I want to see everyone bring GLAMOUR and DRAMA to the “red carpet” at the Grammy Awards this year, whatever it will look like. I have some major moments in my wishes this year and several of them are in today’s set. Are you ready to get into them with me? Ariana Grande is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Lady Gaga for their hit song Rain On Me. It is the only nomination Ari earned this year and she is not performing. What does that mean? Well I would say that means that we won’t be seeing her on a red carpet this year, but with the whole “red carpet from home” idea we’ve seen I hope that she will serve up a chic look on Instagram. When thinking about what I would love to see Ari wear for the Grammy’s red carpet I thought that going short with this sleeveless ice blue Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture halter skater style dress with intricate beaded floral embroidery, an a line skirt covered in feathers, and a tulle train would be perfect. It’s fun, flirty, and a little ice capades-y and I think those are all thinks that are perfectly in tune with Ariana’s style. I think with her signature high pony, defined winged cat eyes, rose pink lips, silver crystal embellished PVC Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ ankle wrap sandals, and a pair of white diamond Butani cluster earrings that this look would scream youthful, flirty glamour from head to toe. I’ve been so excited about what Doja Cat would wear for the Grammy’s since I started to get to know her style over the fall. She has rocked major moments from Versace, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, and Georges Hobeika Haute Couture for the different music award shows last fall and it is just leaving me really excited to see what the Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Solo Pop Performance nominee will bring to the Grammy’s, especially since she will be there in person as a performer. I went for two looks one for the “red carpet” and one for the stage to accept any award that she might take home. For the red carpet I’ve had my heart set on this white and silver Viktor & Rolf Spring 2021 Couture ensemble which features a heavily embellished bralet over a cropped white puffy sleeve button down and a high waisted tiered ball skirt since I first saw it. I feel like this gown is the perfect meshing of 80’s DRAMA and sex appeal in a very modern way. Doja is a fashion chameleon and I feel like she could definitely make it work. I would style this ensemble with a sleet retro inspired updo, defined eyes, wine red lined matte red lips, a pair of white Amina Muaddi ‘Zula’ PVC-trimmed and white leather strappy sandals, and a selection of major Lorraine Schwartz jewels including ‘Lightning bolt’ white diamond cluster earrings, a halo set three stone white diamond ring, a white diamond spear head coil ring, and a halo set marquis cut white diamond cocktail ring. Now all that being said I would say that after Doja was virtually front row at the Givenchy Fall 2021 RTW collection presentation this week I would imagine that she will definitely be rocking a Givenchy look for the show this weekend. While I would still love to see that Viktor & Rolf look on the red carpet I think that this black crystal embellished slip gown with a beaded fringe hem from the Givenchy Fall 2021 RTW collection would be cool. Now I would change the look up ditching that coat it was styled with and then lining the sheer gown with liquid sequins to really elevate the glamour moment of this look. I would go full classic glam with this look styling it with a sleek fingerwave updo, defined eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of sky high black Jimmy Choo ‘Max 150’ suede peep toe ankle strap sandals, and even more Lorraine Schwartz jewels including emerald cut emerald and white diamond drop earrings, a Colombian emerald 3 stone cocktail ring, and a white diamond and emerald angular cocktail ring to make sure that both of these would be astonishing moments for Doja to rock for her first Grammy’s red carpet. Justin & Hailey Beiber will also most likely be celebrating the Grammy’s from home since the singer who is nominated for 4 awards isn’t performing this year. The two are notoriously private as a couple and they don’t often do couples appearances. That being said I would have loved to see the couple work the Grammy’s red carpet together this year if it were a normal red carpet. Now the two have like polar opposite styles with Justin very laid back and Hailey a glamizon, but I feel like I picked looks for the two that speak to their individual style, but would compliment each other perfectly. For Justin I turned to the Celine Spring 2021 Menswear collection and this major black, red, and white color blocked leather bomber with gold detailing pair with two tone light wash loose fit jeans. Now the look was styled without a shirt on the runway, but I would add a white Celine ‘The Dancing Kid” loose fit t-shirt to the look as well as a pair of white and beige Celine ‘Blank’ low lace up toe cap sneakers to really make it a cool moment. Now for Hailey I went for super sexy glam with this black and red strapless Tony Ward Spring 2021 Couture intricately beaded sheer tulle column gown with a thigh high split and a built in bodysuit. It would absolutely be something that Hailey would be drawn to and I think it would compliment that Celine look for Justin perfectly. To complete this look perfectly for Hailey I would style this gown with a sleek bun updo with face framing tendrils, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Epic Rose 100’ wraparound ankle strap sandals and a silver pin heel, and a selection of deGrisogono jewels including black diamond and ruby ‘Volcano’ drop earrings and a dazzling white diamond and ruby cocktail ring. Lady Gaga is currently in Rome filming the new Ridley Scott “House of Gucci” movie so I would say that since she is in the production bubble that we will not be seeing her at the Grammy’s this year. She is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album and I would LOVE to still see her show us a major fashion moment on Instagram celebrating the Grammy Awards. I’ve been  wishing to see Gaga wearing this shocking pink velvet draped Schiaparelli Spring 2021 Couture gown which is draped from a headband and I know that she is really the only person who could sell this moment to me. I seriously don’t know who else could wear all this velvet and not get lost, but I know that Gaga would be able to work through this gown and serve up a major moment for me. I would style this gown with the gold glitter Valentino Spring 2021 Couture ankle strap crazy platform pumps, and over a million dollars in Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. jewels including a vintage 18k gold set white diamond, pink rubellite, and turqouise collar necklace from the 1960’s which sold at Christie’s for $905,000, an 18k gold ‘Bow Tie’ cuff bracelet, and a major 18k gold and platinum set ‘Tapestry’ white diamond and rubellite cocktail ring. It would SCREAM major avant garde glamour from head to toeWrapping up today is the fabulous Tiffany Haddish who is nominated for Best Comedy Album. I don’t know if we’ll see Tiffany at the Grammy’s yet, but I hope to at least see her show up with a major IG moment if she isn’t headed to the Staples Center. While I’ve gone for very avant garde moments for most of the stars in these wishes I wanted to go for something sleeker and more simplistic for her since she isn’t one of the music nominees. I feel like this black sheath dress from the David Koma Pre-Fall 2021 collection which features short flutter sleeves, plexi crystal circles on a peplum busts and a center split. It is sleek and sexy rock and roll glam and I feel like Tiffany would definitely be able to sell this look to me with ease especially if styled with her shaved head, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen 100’ crystal embellished PVC ankle strap pointed toe sandals, and Gismondi 1754 jewels including white diamond ‘Niagara’ waterfall cluster earrings and a white diamond ear cuff in both ears.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 35

We are almost to the end of my 2020 Met Gala wishes. These are all the ones that you heard me talk about adding up unto this point. I was adding looks, stars, and archive moments that I just knew needed to be included in this years wishes that I didn’t get involved early enough. These wishes are superb. I am just holding my breath hoping that they will be brought to life. I was working on another project when I found this butter yellow Vivienne Westwood Spring 2005 RTW draped high low off the shoulder corseted ballgown. I was obsessed with it immediately. I was lacking a good Vivienne Westwood moment for my Met Gala wishes and this was it. It speaks to the enduring legacy of the Vivienne Westwood. I was thinking of one of these gowns for Camila Morrone and this one was the perfect one. It would be a huge improvement over her nude crumpled Elie Saab disaster she wore for her Met Gala debut last year. This look oozes sophistication and that signature brand of Vivienne Westwood glamour. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and pair of bright yellow satin Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of dazzling Samer Halimeh New York jewels including a statement white and yellow diamond choker necklace and a matching cocktail ring would all ensure this look is perfection from head to toe. Aside from the customized Celine gown I hadn’t picked any other looks from the label for the Met Gala red carpet. I was actually SHOCKED that last year after several red carpet moments over the course of awards season that Heidi Slimane didn’t dress a single soul for the Met Gala red carpet. He sent several gowns down the runway for his Celine Fall 2020 RTW collection. This black liquid sequin sheath dress which features a ruffled neckline is gorgeous and definitely on theme for this years Met Gala red carpet. I was raking my brain for the perfect person to wear this gown on this red carpet and Jennifer Aniston came to mind. Now Jennifer has never attended a Met Gala in the past and she isn’t the most exciting person, but I do think that this gown is something she would definitely be drawn to. I am usually not a fan of the way Jennifer styles her ensembles. She doesn’t usually put a lot of effort into her looks. I would love to see her put the effort into her look for her Met Gala debut styling this look with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi peep toe slingback pumps, and vintage art deco scalloped white diamond cluster stud earrings from Fred Leighton.A star I knew I needed to see on the Met Gala red carpet this year is Lady Gaga. After her 4 wardrobe changes on the steps last year when she was the co-host of the gala I want to see Gala deliver superb glamour on the red carpet. She delivered many timeless dramatic glamour moments on the red carpet over the course of the A Star Is Born promo tour and the subsequent awards season leading to her Oscar win. It makes me pray to the gods of fashion that we will see her on this years Met Gala red carpet. I went on a search for the perfect gown for her to bring to life on this years red carpet. I would love to see Gaga bring this red Mary Katrantzou Spring 2020 RTW ‘Love’ gown which features a hand draped taffeta bodice and a floor length skirt in duchess satin. I know that this gown needs someone with presence for it to be perfection and Gaga has presence in endless abound. Styling this look with a 40’s inspired rolled updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Celebrita’ ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement Tiffany & Co. collar necklace designed by Paloma Picasso for the 1985 Blue Book, made of rare and colorful gemstones was acquired in honor of the 35th anniversary of Paloma’s collaboration with Tiffany & Co. would make for an absolutely major moment for Gaga to deliver on the Met Gala red carpet. As I was looking at runway looks that I really wanted to see on this years Met Gala red carpet I kept looking at this black and ice white Givenchy Fall 2018 Couture gown which features structured high neck, short sleeve crop top with a sash train layered over a silk column gown. This gown was Clare Waight Keller’s tribute to the late Hubert de Givenchy and was inspired by one of the creations he made for her costumes in the film Funny Face. I wasn’t sure who should wear it. I knew it needed to be someone with height. Then Nicole Kidman popped into my head. She has the height, grace and elegance to truly bring this look to life on this red carpet. Styling this look with a retro updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver crystal embellished black satin Sergio Rossi cross strap peep toe sandals, and a selection of vintage jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of white diamond and pearl tear drop pendant earrings, a selection of delicate white diamond and sapphire art deco bracelets, and two early 20th century art deco Burmese sapphire and white diamond rings would make sure this retro glam look delivers regal perfection.Rounding out this list is the always beautiful Taylor Swift. The songstress has always been one to deliver chic moments on the red carpet. She has worn super glamorous gowns from J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, and Badgley Mishka as well as an edgy Louis Vuitton cocktail dress in past years. I decided to dig into the archives of one of my favorite, yet underrated design houses Viktor & Rolf for the perfect gown for Taylor to wear on this red carpet. This strapless ballgown which features a black and pink beaded corset bodice and a tulle skirt angular cut hailed from one of my favorite Viktor & Rolf collections, Spring 2010 RTW. The edgy cut tulle designs were rocked at the time by Rihanna, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, & Anna Paquin. When this gown was first presented Taylor was in her fledgling country princess days, so it never would have even been an option for her. Given her style transformations over the years from princess to sex pot to lady I feel like now is the perfect time for Taylor to pull this glamorous, yet inherently edgy, moment out of the Viktor & Rolf archive and give it the red carpet moment it deserves. Taylor would infuse a sense of classic glamour into this moment. It would definitely be a perfect interpretation of the theme of this years Met Gala “About Time: Fashion and Duration” especially when styled with a loose romantic updo, thick winged cat eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of rose gold glitter and crystal Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Gismondi 1754 white diamond teardrop wreath necklace.

63 Looks From Spring 2020 Couture I Want To See On The Red Carpet

I started off Paris Haute Couture Spring 2020 Fashion Week with the intention of having a post the next morning of the favorite looks I had seen the day before with who I most want to see wearing those looks. Well life got in the way. Tuesday night I saw Celine Dion and slept as long as I could before heading to work the next day. Wednesday I had to take my mother to a doctors appointment first thing in the morning and lost my little bit of weekday morning blog time. So by then I just decided well day one is already up, but I will just do a round up including all the shows with 1-4 looks from each show being featured in one big round up list. So that is what I did. As I was putting this list together I realized that this is basically a precursor to my 2020 Cannes Film Festival wishes with major looks for L’Orealistas like Sonam Kapoor, Eva Longoria, Araya A. Hargate, Aishwarya Rai, Helen Mirren, and more to bring to life on the red carpet. It can also be a prediction for you all as it comes to what my Oscar party wishes may look like. Overall this season was very good. Aside from my now perennial favorites Givenchy and Valentino there wasn’t really much of a stand out as far as an entire collection, save maybe Armani Prive, but there were a ton of really amazing moments that are just waiting to be seen on a red carpet. I hope you are ready to see more of these looks, see some of these wishes below detailed out, and more on the race to the Oscars, Met Gala, and the Cannes Film Festival. I honestly do not know which wish here is my favorite; what’s yours?

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Are you guys excited for the Met Gala? We are less than a month away and I know that we are in store for a major night. I want to see everyone deliver some major lewks on this red carpet. The artifice of ‘Camp’ is love of the un-normal and exaggeration. The looks we typically see on a Met Gala red carpet already fit the ‘Camp’ aesthetic as it is, no matter what the theme is, so I am really excited to see what everyone brings to life this year. Anya Taylor Joy was recently announced as the face of Viktor & Rolf’s latest fragranceFlowerbomb Midnight.” The brand is confirmed to have at least one look in the exhibit. At the Milan press conference to drum up excitement a ginormous pink tulle gown emblazoned with the phrase “Less Is More” from the Viktor & Rolf Spring 2019 Couture show was on display. As soon as I saw that I started to question if any of the other looks from this collection would be on the red carpet since they all have that same big shape emblazoned with some sort of kitschy saying. I knew I wanted to feature a gown, or cocktail look, for Anya to wear as the face of the brand on this red carpet since the label is being lauded in the exhibit and went through collections dating back almost 10 years. I had options from the over the top and weird to the glamorous and avant garde, but ultimately (after consultation with some friends) I decided that I was going to go for another look from the Viktor & Rolf Spring 2019 Couture show. This jade green trapeze gown which features pleated ruffled shoulder and a pleated ruffled hem without the “I AM MY OWN MUSE” slogan down the front would be an appropriate look to wear on this red carpet, but I think the added level of ‘Camp’ to the look is that if Anya wore this gown with the slogan as the guests of the designers and the face of their fragrance she is technically a muse for the brand. I liked that it gave this sort of double entendre moment. I would keep the rest of the look rather simple adding a pair of matching green satin Charlotte Olympia ‘Paloma’ platform pumps, a sleek low bun, thick defined eyes, punchy pink lips, and simple Cartier emerald and diamond double stud earrings to allow for the gown to literally speak for itself.Danai Gurira kinda let me down on the style front during awards season. She was one of the stars whom I was most excited to see, but I feel like I barely remember her looks. If she is invited to the Met Gala this year, and I definitely think that she is, then I want to see Danai really deliver something major on the red carpet. She has been a long time fan of one of fashion circles favorite designers Rosie Assoulin for a while now and I definitely would love to see Danai bring one of the New York based designers dramatic yet effortlessly chic creations to life on the Met Gala red carpet. It has been a hot second since Rosie has had a major a-list moment on the Met Gala carpet and I think that Danai wearing this red and aqua Rosie Assoulin Fall 2019 RTW pannier inspired ballgown which features a plunging neckline, twisted crossover straps, and a tie at the waist would deliver just that. Now the dress is beautiful and the colors alone could make it fit right in on the red carpet at this years ‘Camp’ themed gala, but I want to see Danai up the ‘Camp’ factor of this look with some wild styling. Personally I would love to see her rock a pulled back afro, smokey eyes, glossy dark red lips, a pair of aqua and red Off White c/o Virgil Abloh zip tie ankle strap pointed toe jelly pumps, and multicolor precious stone chandelier earrings from the Rihanna Loves Chopard jewelry collection to really make sure that this look perfectly balances Rosie’s more laid back approach to glamour and the over the top drama I am expecting from a ‘Camp’ themed red carpet. Gemma Chan owned awards season this year. She brought looks from Valentino, Erdem, Oscar de la Renta, and more to life on the red carpets from the Golden Globes to the Oscars. One of her chicest looks of awards season was a hot pink Valentino Couture trapeze gown with a ruffled neckline and POCKETS that she wore for the Academy Awards. It was then that I knew that Gemma had to be part of the Valentino crew for her first Met Gala appearance. I have long adored Pierpaolo Piccioli’s solo tenure at Valentino, but when I was watching the livestream of his Spring 2019 Couture show it was like I was floating on air. I was hoping for one or two major options for this years Met Gala theme, but he delivered more than I was expecting. The first look I gasped and knew immediately I was saving for a Met Gala moment was this dove grey gown which features intricate silver, periwinkle, lime, and teal floral embroideries and ruffled details. I saw this as the perfect balance of this years theme with Pierpaolo’s aesthetic. It wasn’t long after I gasped that I knew that Gemma was the perfect person to bring this gown to life. She has the statuesque elegance about her that would allow for her to be seen amongst all the drama of the embroidery and ruffles. I don’t want the wearer of this gown to get lost in the volume and I honestly believe that Gemma is the presence to really bring this gown to life on a red carpet. Pair it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of blush and powder blue Sophia Webster ‘Chiara’ satin butterfly sandals, and some absolutely dazzling David Morris opal, paraiba tourmaline, and diamond chandelier earrings to ensure this look delivers dramatic glamour from head to toe. Pharell Williams knows how to do high fashion on the red carpet. I mean the man wore a camo tuxedo with shorts and tube socks to the Oscars, so I am expecting something major from him on the red carpet at the Met Gala. I decided to jump down the Thom Browne rabbit hole and dig into the labels archive to find the perfect look for Pharrell to rock on this red carpet. I saw this Thom Browne Spring 2017 Menswear feathered ‘Parrot’ suit which features cape wings and shorts and was immediately sold on it as a Met Gala look for this years ‘Camp’ theme. If I was going to the Met I would definitely want to wear this jacket (personally I would wear it with some fitted red pants instead of the shorts,) but since I am not going to the Met I guess that Pharrell would be the perfect person to bring this look to life on the red carpet. Now Pharrell could wear the whole head to toe runway look, Parrot head included, but I personally am not about that life. I have a bit of an issue with picking a sneaker for such a formal event, but when the red Nike Air Jordan 2 Retro ‘Legends of Summer’ sneakers are valued at almost $8,000 I think that I could let it slide. Sara Sampaio is one of my favorite models to see on the red carpet. She is a face of Armani beauty and wears quite a bit of Armani Prive on this red carpet so it was an easy choice for me to pick a look from the label to wear on this red carpet. I definitely think that this red and blue strapless tea length gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2019 Couture collection which features intricate sequined construction and fun flirty fringe meshes Sara’s very glamorous sense of style and the more edgy and over the top elements of ‘Camp’ style. Where I have gone back and forth with this look for Sara was in the styling. On the runway the dress was paired with dramatic matching fringed opera gloves and a neck ruffle. Could they translate well on Sara to the red carpet? I don’t know. I think I would just keep the gloves adding a sleek updo, winged eyes, bold red lips, a pair of metallic red Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ PVC trimmed mirrored leather sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby wreath earrings to really keep the balance of glamour and ‘Camp’ in step for Sara. Coming off the heels of her debut collaboration collection with Tommy Hilfiger I think it is a safe bet that Zendaya will be wearing a custom gown from the designer on the red carpet at this years Met Gala. I took an amazing purple and fuchsia lurex halter jumpsuit from the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya Fall 2019 RTW collection and turned it into this majorly disco glam glittered lurex gown with a sweeping train for Zendaya to bring to life on this red carpet. I decided to take ‘Camp’ inspiration for Zendaya by looking to the iconic Studio 54. That is one of the spaces was where modern ‘Camp’ came to be. It was an anything goes space when it came to being who you wanted to be and so I think that it is a great place to draw inspiration for this red carpet from. I would want to see Zendaya accentuate this gown with a big full afro, thick black and purple winged lined eyes, a vintage purple ostrich feather bolero (probably held in her hand instead of over her shoulders,) silver Gianvito Rossi crystal ankle wrap metallic leather sandals, and a pair of Harry Winston amethyst, white, pink, and blue diamond art deco chandelier earrings to really deliver that major Studio 54 drama that I am expecting from a look like this.

The 2019 Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May: May 6, 2019.

2019 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Here we go ladies and gentlemen! The first major awards show of the year is almost upon us so it is time for me to kick off my Golden Globe Awards wishes. I am doing it differently this year than I have in the past. Usually I break it up  by category and I feel like I end up with more posts than I know what to do with. This year the only “special” post I have is this first one because it features all the looks I want to see hostess, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama nominee, Sandra Oh to bring to life over the course of awards season. I was a little surprised to see that Sandra was chosen to host this years Golden Globe Awards along side Andy Samberg (the pair did present earlier this year at the Emmy Awards together.) I don’t think of comedy when I think of Sandra, so I am interested to see what how they will vibe with each other. I recently took an interest in Sandra’s fashion choices again when she wore a chic red Ralph & Russo gown for the Emmy’s, so I’m hoping she brings really chic fashion moments on Globes night. For the red carpet I decided to go simple and glamorous with this gold Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown completely crystal embroidered from head to toe. I think that this is probably going to be a favored silhouette for Sandra on Globes night and just the simplicity of this gown really makes it a chic moment. Could she rock the red carpet with the organza stole like it was paired with on the runway? Definitely, but I don’t think it would be needed. Now if Mr. Armani wanted to create an attached train with that fabric I might be really intrigued. I do however think that the simple chic column gown would be perfect for her to bring to life on this red carpet. A chic romantic updo, defined smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a black Roger Vivier ‘Club Chain’ gold chain tassel detail buckled clutch, strappy gold Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ metallic leather sandals, and antique Georgian diamond drop earrings from Beladora would all ensure that Sandra would kick the night off in high style. Now the fun part of picking looks for Sandra came when picking all of the wardrobe changes I want to see from her over the course of the actual telecast. I am predicting an over all of five to six ensembles from Sandra over the course of the night at the Globes. One for the red carpet, four looks during the telecast, and one for the after-parties.

The first wardrobe change would be out of that simple and chic Armani Prive gown from the red carpet and into a black and orange Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 ‘Flower Garden Sparkle gown which features a fit and flare silhouette with satin flower embroidery and crystal embellishments. This gown is something I knew I wanted to pick for Sandra just because I think that the orange against her skin would just pop. It is a bold statement gown that I would just pair simply with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft nude lips, and black Jimmy Choo ‘Emily’ suede crisscross sandals.

The second look I’ve picked for Sandra to wear is a little bit more of a risky fashion choice, just because of the designer. I love this black and white Alexander Wang Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features a white asymmetrical sleeve silk jersey t-shirt bodice and and asymmetrical black tuxedo inspired wrap skirt with a sexy center split. It is a bit of a risk just because of who designed it and is also not exactly what someone typically thinks of when they think of the Golden Globe Awards. The edgier style I think is something that Sandra would rock and I think that bouncy curls, smokey eyes, nude lips, black Alexander Wang ‘Cady’ halo-pod stiletto sandals, and Anita Ko ‘Ava’ diamond wreath earrings would make it a really chic moment for her hosting duties.

I didn’t want to do all gowns for Sandra because that just didn’t seem authentic, so when I saw that deep berry velvet Azzaro Spring 2018 Couture smoking jacket inspired jumpsuit I thought it would be the perfect look to break up all the gowns for Sandra. I actually find it funny because it was only after I picked this jumpsuit that I realized that her former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo also wore a similar jumpsuit from this collection for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party earlier this year. I thought this look would be really chic and I think that keeping those bouncy curls adding a berry lip to match the velvet, defined eyes, and simple black Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pointed toe pumps would add the perfect finishing touches to it.

The final look I want to see Sandra wearing during the Golden Globes telecast is this very chic white Pamella Roland Spring 2019 RTW stretch crepe gown which features a crystal metallic gold floral embroidered motif, illusion neckline, and a column silhouette. I went back to the column silhouette and a hint of gold to bring the looks full circle. If I had a fit body like Sandra does I would want looks that hugged my curves and showcased it to the max, but in a glamorous way, and that is exactly what we get with this gown. A pair of gold Rene Caovilla crystal embellished sandals, bouncy curls, soft pink glossy lips, and a selection of antique jewels from Beladora including victorian natural pearl, cultured pearl, and diamond chandelier earrings and a victorian peridot and diamond ring would all ensure that this look is feminine glamour defined.

The final wardrobe change I would like to see from Sandra on Globes night is for the after parties. I decided to go with a much simpler look for her to wear for the parties than I did for the red carpet at the ceremony or the wardrobe changes during the telecast. I love a good Rochas moment on the red carpet but they don’t come very often. When I was picking looks to option for Sandra I was drawn to this black Rochas Spring 2019 RTW one shoulder tea length gown which features a puff shoulder, velvet animal print, loose fit, and ribbon detail. I decided it would be a perfect look for her to wear for the parties because after all those wardrobe changes it would be just relaxed enough in fit to be comfortable, but still really chic especially when paired with a loose updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a black satin Roger Vivier ‘Broche Vivier’ crystal buckle clutch, a pair of black velvet Roger Vivier ‘Sin’ crystal bow detail strappy sandals, and art deco jewels from Beladora including diamond and jade drop earrings and a simple diamond bracelet.

The 2019 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday January 6, 2019.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I’m already behind on my Emmy Awards wishes and I actually live in North Carolina, so depending on how Hurricane Florence affects the part of my state I may or may not lose power and then I won’t be able to keep updating If I Was A Stylist. I am not expecting that to happen. But just wanted you all to know where things will stand. So with that being said I am really excited about the wishes in this latest post.Angela Sarafayn has always intrigued me. She is a sleek modern beauty and while she personally isn’t nominated I would be surprised if she isn’t on the red carpet on Monday to support he show Westworld. Last year we saw Angela as a ray of sunshine in a bold yellow Elizabeth Kennedy gown on the Emmy Awards red carpet. For this year I went more glamorous and angelic for Angela with this white Antonio Grimaldi Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features a crystal embellished bodice and an attached cape train. It is a very chic moment and we have seen quite a few international stars wearing Antonio Grimaldi on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival and I definitely think that Angela is the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the Emmy Awards red carpet especially when styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark red lips, a white pearl embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, white Jimmy Choo ‘Talia 100’ sandals, and a pair of Hueb ‘Labyrinth’ diamond cluster starburst earrings. Elizabeth Debicki finally really owned up to her level of glamour this past week while promoting a couple of her films in Toronto wearing Armani Prive, Schiaparelli, and Prabal Gurung and I am praying that she delivers something amazing on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Monday. I swapped out the Armani Prive gown I had originally picked for Elizabeth to wear on this red carpet for this grey and yellow ombré Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture pleated chiffon gown which features a plunging neckline, asymmetrical draping, a gold belted waist, and cape because that original gown was too similar to the look that she just work in Toronto. I think that Elizabeth would totally be one of the most ethereal ladies on the red carpet wearing this Elie Saab Couture gown. It is very chic and I feel like the charcoal grey and dusty lemon coloring would look so chic against Elizabeth’s skin tone. A romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of two tone gold Saint Laurent ‘Amber 105’ sandals, and 19th century Fred Leighton diamond drop earrings (the bottom right ones) all would really add the perfect finishing touches to this moment for Elizabeth. Kate McKinnon has been very up and down with her style in my opinion. I really want to see the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nominee and presenter bring a really chic moment to the Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday. That is why I went to this red Naeem Khan Resort 2019 one shoulder gown which features a draped, one shoulder bodice, cape detail, and a column silhouette. I am obviously predicting a lot of cape styles for this years red carpet. I love the trend. They add a bit of drama to simple styles and I think that is exactly why I wanted to pick this gown for Kate. Without the cape this is just another one shoulder column gown, but the cape adds just the right amount of drama to really up the glamour level of this look. I think that with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, red Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sophie’ patent leather sandals, and a pair of Djula ‘Beverly Hills’ princess cut diamond wreath earrings that this would just be a really glamorous moment for Kate to wear on the Emmy Awards red carpet. Maisie Williams, AKA Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, also may not be nominated for an Emmy Award this year (or presenting as far as I am aware,) but I would be shocked not to see her on the red carpet supporting her nominated co-stars and the show itself which is also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. The two times that Maisie has attended the Emmy Awards she has opted for short dresses from British designers Abby Brown and Markus Lufper. I decided to keep the spirit of that idea alive, and keep the British designer tradition, by opting for this iridescent white Huishan Zhang Fall 2018 RTW ‘Madaket’ gown which features a crew neckline, a fitted bodice, and a full skirt layered over a mini skirt. I feel like we don’t see enough Huishan Zhang on the red carpet and I definitely think that this fun gown is totally something that Maisie would wear on the red carpet. I want to keep the fun nature of this gown alive in the styling as well so I would opt to have Maisie pair this gown with a curly bob hairstyle, defined eyes, pink lips, pink neon glitter Sophia Webster ‘Soleil’ ruffled leather sandals, and statement pink sapphire, ruby, diamond, and pink opal Anabela Chan ‘Passiflora’ earrings. Sandra Oh is nominated for her first Emmy in nine years for her performance in Killing Eve. She is the first Asian American actress nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and very well could take home the trophy, though the category is extremely tough. I turned back to the same brand that delivered one of my favorite red carpet moments that Sandra has had in the past, Marchesa. The brand dressed Sandra in a gold embroidered column gown for the 2009 Emmy Awards and I loved it. For this years red carpet I went for a more detailed gown than I think we have ever seen Sandra wearing on the red carpet, but I definitely think that this antique silver Marchesa Pre-Fall 2018 column gown which features a plunging V neckline, fully beaded silver metallic lace, with tiers of ostrich feather fringe would be a really glamorous option for the red carpet. Aside from Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani, and Vanessa Hudgens we haven’t seen Marchesa on the red carpet since the Weinstein scandal broke almost a year ago. I feel like with her history with the brand that Sandra would be the perfect person to give the brand a major red carpet moment at the 2018 Emmy Awards. I think that styling this gown with a loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, antique rose lips, a champagne glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Trinket’ clutch, a pair of nude crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pointed toe pumps, and Niwaka ‘Hanayuki’ diamond floral chandelier earrings would all make sure that this that major moment I know it could be. Tina Fey may have lost the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series trophy to Tiffany Haddish over this past weekend at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, but we will still see her at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday as a presenter. I feel like over the last two years Tina has really played with fashion, and I have loved it. I thank her stylist Cristina Ehrlich for pushing her out of what was her comfort zone and I cannot wait to see what they will bring to the red carpet at Emmy Awards on Monday night. I went for a chic, yet still bold, statement picking this black Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 gown which features a column silhouette with a draped multicolor sequin striped one sleeved neckline and a thigh high slit. This gown is sexy and glamorous while still being very classic in its shape and I definitely think that while it definitely continues to push Tina’s comfort zone that it would be a really glamorous moment for her to bring to this red carpet. I wouldn’t want to take anything away from that sequined sleeve and neckline so I would personally style this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a black satin Inge Christopher crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Nathalie’ sandals, and simple Harry Winston white and pink diamond drop earrings to really let the gown stay the statement of this ensemble.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.

2018 Venice Film Festival: “Vox Lux” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Vox Lux looks like the perfect Black Swan meets club kid kind of movie and I am very interested in seeing what the cast will bring to the red carpet while they promote the film at the 2018 Venice Film Festival. This film may not have any awards season buzz behind it, but the cast has great style. So I feel like we will be in for a very glamorous treat when the step onto the red carpet at the Lido to promote this film.I will say that given her history Natalie Portman could announce that she is pregnant again. The last two times that we have seen Natalie promoting films at Venice she has announced that she has been pregnant. Will she take the red carpet for the first time in Venice without a baby on board? Who knows, but I don’t think she will be. For the Vox Lux photocall I went a more cocktail route picking this mauve and black Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 crystallized plisse cocktail dress which features a soft tulle overlay, halter neckline and belted waistline. It almost reminds me of early Rodarte pieces and I think that is why I was drawn to it for Natalie. It is one of my more glamorous photocall wishes. It reminds me of the looks that Natalie wore when she was younger, and I definitely think that she would own it. She is a Dior ambassador so I decided that the brand would still be represented in this photocall ensemble with a pair of black Christian Dior ‘D-Choc’ high heeled pumps in black mesh and suede calfskin in an eye motif. Finishing the look with a romantic updo, defined eyes, and pink lips would make this look elegant perfection. For the premiere I went the custom route for Natalie. She does classic glamour with ease and I think that she would own the red carpet at the premiere wearing this navy Christian Dior Couture off the shoulder gown which features a belted waist and a pleated mermaid hem. The glamour of the look would be perfectly complimented with a sleek bouffant style updo, defined eyes, blush pink lips, a pair of black Christian Dior ‘D-Mesure’ crystal eye motif slingback pumps, and Dior High Jewelry “Milieu du Sickle Diamant” earrings in white gold and diamonds. It would all make for a very glamorous return to Venice for Natalie.Stacy Martin has been experimenting with her fashion options recently. Everything used to be Prada or Miu Miu for her, but this year she has worn so many other amazing brands. She has Vox Lux in main competition and her film Amanda in the Orizzonti section, so I am really interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet yet. I want to see Stacy go to her comfort zone for this photocall with this Prada Resort 2019 ensemble which features an orange and gold embroidered brocade short sleeve top with a ruffle accent across the chest and metallic threading throughout the pattern and a pink and gold brocade mini skirt with a matching wide buckle belt and metallic stitching throughout the intricate pattern. She has had some of her best looks from Prada and I definitely think that this ensemble is something she would get into. A half up/half down teased hairstyle, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of coral Prada scalloped block heel platform sandals would make this look perfection. For the premiere I went to one of the brands I most want to see on the Venice Film Festival red carpet is No. 21 and I definitely think that the brand suits Stacy’s style. She has worn a few looks from the brand in the past and I think that she would definitely own the red carpet wearing a modified No. 21 Resort 2019 silver sequin embellished one shoulder gown which features a dramatic pink bow on the shoulder. This gown is inspired by a mini dress from this collection and I think that Stacy will own this dress as a gown on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. It is bold and dazzling moment. Definitely something a little more disco than we are used to seeing Stacy rocking on the red carpet, but I think that she would own this moment especially when paired with a pink Prada satin box clutch, silver Prada ‘Pearly’ leather sandals, a romantic updo, defined eyes, and pink lips.I have picked lots of glamorous gowns for Naomi Watts to wear over the course of this festival. Most of them are floor length or have dramatic trains, but I do think that we will see Naomi wear at least one tea length gown on the red carpet. I went back to last falls collections and picked this very chic black Chanel Fall 2017 Couture tea length silk gown which features a plunging neckline, knotted detail on the neckline, peplum like detail on the hips, crystal buttons, and a sheer beaded hem to be the perfect shorter option for Naomi to bring to life on this red carpet. I am really surprised that no one has snatched this gown up yet and I think that if anyone could really make this a very chic moment on the red carpet it would be Naomi. I think it would be styled oh so chic-ly with a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black satin Chanel clutch, black satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Nadira’ jeweled satin pumps, and a Bulgari ‘Parentesi’ diamond link necklace to make this a very chic moment for the festival juror.

The premiere of Vox Lux will take place on Tuesday September 4, 2018. The 2018 Venice Film Festival opens Wednesday August 29, 2018 and runs through Saturday September 8, 2018.

2018 Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

A week from Monday all of the hottest of young Hollywood are expected to descend upon the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. There has been a whole new crop of young talent that seems to have really gained steam with their careers over the last year and I am really excited to see what they just might bring to this red carpet. Looking ahead at the wishes I have today they are pretty much exactly what I expect to see stars to bring to this red carpet, both the young stars and the more established names. Auli’i Cravalho was plucked out of obscurity to play the title role in the animated feature Moana, since then she had a short run on a new GLEE-like series called RISE for NBC, which sadly got canceled. She is expected to voice Moana again in next years Wreck it Ralph sequel Ralph Breaks The Internet and is expected to be one of the many presenters who will take to the stage at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. When it comes to her style I don’t really know that much about it. I went for something chic and feminine for Auli’i to wear this year with this magenta and red silk Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2018 RTW one sleeve mini dress which features a slashed shoulder and an a-line tiered skirt. I do think that Auli’i would look very chic and flirty wearing this dress for the Teen Choice Awards and I think that chic waves tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a pair of nude Sam Edelman ‘Ariella’ patent leather sandals all would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. Elizabeth Olsen actually made me a little excited about her style for the first time since she burst onto the scene in 2011 and was one of my ones to watch in 2012. While she was out promoting Avengers: Infinity War wearing incredibly chic looks from Alexandre Vauthier and Oscar de la Renta I started to re-develop my girl crush on Elizabeth and I hope that if she is at the Teen Choice Awards, where she is nominated for Choice Action Movie Actress for Avengers, that she brings the chic yet again. I went to a brand that I really wouldn’t normally think of for the Teen Choice Awards red carpet with this black and white Brandon Maxwell Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which features a white twist bottom sequin covered t-shirt and black skinny jeans, but I think that it is the perfect meshing of Elizabeth’s glamorous style, Brandon Maxwell’s structure and drama, and the inherent ease of the Teen Choice Awards. I wouldn’t do a whole lot with the styling either adding a sleek ponytail, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ patent leather pointed toe pumps to really make this a simple yet chic moment on the red carpet. Karen Gillan also stars in Avengers: Infinity War but her Teen Choice Award nomination this year for Choice Comedy Movie Actress comes from her performance in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. I really do wonder what Karen would wear on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. This is her first nomination and with the other nominees in the category I honestly have no idea who may win. When it comes down to it all of the looks that I have loved from Karen are way to dramatic, formal, and avant garde for this red carpet. She loves Valentino Couture, Thom Browne, and Monse. None of those brands really scream Teen Choice Awards so I went to Prada, not really a TCA norm brand either but I think that this pistachio, brown, and black printed Prada Resort 2019 mini dress which features a turtleneck collar with long sleeves and a logo patch on the chest. This dress is easy and flirty and I think is the type of elevated look that we could very well see from Karen on this red carpet, if she chooses to attend. I think that a sleek side parted ponytail, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi strappy d’orsay sandals all would really ensure that this is an incredibly chic moment for Karen to rock on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. Rising country superstar Maren Morris has three nominations at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards and I wonder if we will see her step out. Usually we see the winners in the music category perform or they accept via video, but the Teen Choice Awards do fall in between a short break in Maren’s current tour so anything is possible. I would love to see the star continue to stretch her fashionable legs on this red carpet opting for bold, short, and sexy with this purple David Koma Fall 2018 RTW long sleeve mini dress which features a turtleneck, triangular cutout at the right shoulder, and large feather crystal embellishments at the chest and hip. This is a chic look for the singer, who believe it or not is actually 28 years old, to rock on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards especially with a sleek updo, defined eyes, dusty rose lips, and a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Casa Blanca’ lamb leather buckle detail ankle cuff sandals.Rounding out this list is one of my favorite ladies of young Hollywood, Storm Reid. She has been a real style force so far this year rocking looks from the likes of Coach, Prada, Yanina Couture, Reem Acra, and Moschino. I went back to the brand that Storm wore in June for the MTV Movie & Television Awards to pick the perfect dress for her to rock on the red carpet at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards with this white Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 mini dress which features a shift silhouette with a collared neckline, puffy 3/4 length sleeves, and faded crystal patterns. This dress is perfect for this red carpet it is that chic summery easy glamour that we want to see on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. I would compliment the embellishments in the dress pairing it with a pair of lime Jimmy Choo ‘Mischa’ crystal buckle low heel sandals. Add a teased curly updo, defined eyes, and pink lips to really finish this look perfectly.

The 2018 Teen Choice Awards will take place on Sunday August 12, 2018.

16 Potential Red Carpet Moments From Resort 2019

Today we have just one more set of seasonal wish lists to close out the week. Since the Resort 2019 season kicked off back on May 3, 2018 with the Chanel Cruise 2019 presentation and just wound down during Paris Couture. Over the course of that about two month long period fashion houses staged runway shows and held presentations around the world. Aside from Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, and Louis Vuitton most designers showed a lookbook instead of a runway show. I love this season because it is just about the clothes more so than theatrical styling. The hair and makeup are simpler. They don’t compete as much with the clothes. There are definitely many potential red carpet moments hiding in this season’s collections. Andrew Gn: Kicking off the looks that I want to see brought to life on the red carpet is this yellow and silver brocade wing sleeve gown which features an exaggerated sleeve detail, an A-line bodice, flared hem, and small train detail. It is a very flirty and feminine gown, but it will need a real statuesque woman to make it work on the red carpet and I think that Elizabeth Debicki would be the perfect person to do just that.

Badgley Mishcka: I don’t often think about Badgley Mishka anymore, but I really loved the brands Resort 2019 collection. The whole collection was a statement of glamour, and I do think that there are several chic looks that would make for chic red carpet moments. This teal, yellow, white, and red floral print tea length gown which features a v-neck, full skirt, and bold red bow detail is something that is an incredibly glamorous yet statement making moment. Someone like Sarah Hyland would really make this a chic red carpet moment, maybe for one of the pre-Emmy Awards parties?

Carolina Herrera: This season was the first season where Wes Gordon was in total control of the Carolina Herrera creative directions. He has been around consulting for the brands namesake for a couple of months, but after handing Mrs. Herrera with a bouquet of red roses he took the reigns solo. This collection was incredibly chic and it makes me forward to seeing what Wes will continue. This collection showed how seamless the transfer of power at Herrera has been. He stuck to the codes of the brand to a T. It was the epitome of femininity and stars are already giving love to this collection on the red carpet. We have already seen Brie Larson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Goya Toledo, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Tao Okamoto all rocking looks from this collection on the red carpet. As soon as I flipped to this white one shoulder tea length gown which features rainbow stripes and a full ball skirt I knew that I wanted to see Emilia Clarke rock it on a red carpet. It could be a really chic moment and I think that if anyone could make it the perfect effortless moment on the red carpet it would be her.

David Koma: Sexy, structure, and beading are the main codes at David Koma. Coming off the heels of him exiting as the creative director of Mugler I was expecting to see Mr. Koma invest more creative capital in his own brand, but we definitely did not see that this season. It was more of just what we have come to love, and expect, from the brand, but there were still several red carpet moments that came out of this collection. Usually when I see something like this blue embellished strong shoulder dress which features an asymmetrical side slit hem and a v-neckline I would think of Jennifer Lopez, but this time it was a different Jennifer (Jennifer Lawrence) that came to mind. While I think that JLo would absolutely kill this dress on the red carpet with some sparkly black Louboutin’s I also think that it would be an unexpected edgy glam moment for JLaw as well. Fausto Puglisi: I have to say that I often feel like Fausto Puglisi is very repetitive when it comes to his runway looks. I have to say that when I look back at his Resort 2019 collection it was pretty much more of the same, but it was done so well it wasn’t till I typed those words that I realized how much of the collection is a seasonal reinterpretation of a classic Fausto Puglisi piece. The brand is known for this sexy cut that also seems to have and ode to ancient Rome, and that is exactly what we got from him this season but with bold color and color-blocking. My favorite look from the collection was this bold and black, lilac, and red asymmetrical color block long sleeve column gown which features a v-neck, grommet stud detailing, and fit and flare silhouette and I really want to see Suki Waterhouse bring it to life on the red carpet, and I think that is because the model reminds me of her.

Fendi: Fendi is the only brand that has made my potential red carpet moments lists for Fall 2018 Couture, Spring 2019 Menswear, and now Resort 2019. I don’t know what is the water that Karl has been drinking when he designs Fendi, but it has been inspired. While the iconic Fendi ‘Zucchino’ logo print is nothing new it has had a resurgence in the last year or so. In fact logo prints have been back across the board from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel. So this teal and red ensemble which features a short sleeve button down top with a wide collar and a matching wrap style skirt which with features a buckle waist detail, pleating, and an asymmetrical hemline is a bold modern moment on this classic Fendi print. I’m not usually one for in your face logo prints, but I do love this look and I feel like someone who doesn’t flaunt brand like Naomi Watts would really bring this look to life for a casual red carpet appearance.

Gucci: Watching the Gucci Resort 2019 show, which was located at medieval cloisters in Arles, France with fire lighting the runway, was like partaking in a religious experience. Maybe Alessandro was inspired in part by this years Met Gala theme. He encapsulated the inspiration behind the collection by saying that tit was inspired by a rave in a cemetery. The styling was as over the top as ever. You don’t see robotic and repetitive styling from Alessandro’s Gucci, ever. The styles that came down the runway were hard to digest in most cases. There was so much layering, almost too many accessories, props, and patterns that things got lost in translation for me. One look I did really love, but have absolutely no idea where it would be worn, is the black velvet midi gown which features blouson 3/4 length sleeves, a watteau neckline, and a 3D rib cage embellishing the bodice. It is the beauty in the grotesque and it only marginally works. It definitely would take the right person to make me fall in love with this look off the runway. Lady Gaga is really the only person that springs to mind, but with her promoting A Star Is Born under her birth name I wonder if we will see looks like this from the eccentric singer turned actress.

Louis Vuitton: When I watched the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2019 show I thought of all the potential that lies within the codes set forth in the collection that could lead to custom gowns. In fact in the days following the release of this collection me and my friend Evita from For The Love of Red Carpet Fashion (and the person who does all the custom gown edits) came up with custom design ideas for almost 40 custom Louis Vuitton gowns inspired by what came down the runway during this show. When it comes to runway looks I tend to get very bored with Louis Vuitton very fast because it has to many brand ambassadors that they over saturate the market. I usually say that halfway through a season I am ready for the next one I am bored with seeing the same styles over and over again. I do however really want to see this black, white, and orange mixed print sequin mini dress which features strong ruffles shoulders, long sleeves with flared cuffs, subtle peplum detail, and a skater skirt to make a red carpet moment. There are so many Louis Vuitton devotees who I think could really sell this dress to me on the red carpet but I feel like it would be an edgier moment for someone like Ruth Negga whom we are used to seeing wear more romantic style. Marchesa: It is not a “special anniversary” season for Marchesa. In fact it came out when Marchesa is still in the throws of controversy thanks to Harvey Weinstein. Back in May right after Scarlett Johansson wore a Marchesa gown to the Met Gala stylist to the stars Ilaria Urbinati took to her Instagram with a defense of Marchesa, and its co-founder Georgina Chapman. She said “I don’t see how it’s right to have completely thrown her under the bus alongside him despite the fact that she left him. It reeks a bit of the old habit of asking the woman what SHE did wrong when the husband cheats. If anything my first instinct is not to blame her but to rally by her because i can’t even begin to imagine what she must have felt when she found out.  This is a woman whose entire life has been flipped upside down and who will have to deal with the fact that her children will grow up with a scarlet letter – a fact which i can assure you as a mother – all the money in the upper west side can never make okay.  As a stylist, putting her dresses on clients is tricky because i wouldn’t want to enforce that kind of scrutiny on a client. That would have to be their choice. But i appreciated the ballsiness of Scarlett Johansson showing up at the recent Met in one of her creations.” And I have to agree. I don’t want to see Marchesa or Georgina harmed anymore than they already have been. I want to see people who constantly wore Marchesa head back to the brand for future red carpet moments. I would love to see Kate Beckinsale snatch up this black and gold strapless ruffled gown which features a sweetheart neckline with a fit and flare bodice, golden embroidery, and a mermaid hem and make it a totally major moment. It reminds me of a Marchesa gown Kate wore back in 2010 for an Elton John event.

Maticevski: One of the most underrated designers out there right now is in my opinion is Toni Maticevski. The Melbourne based designer is a genius of draping and drama and I feel like we don’t see a lot of the brand on the red carpet. It has a celebrity fan base that includes Ciara, Solange Knowles, Aishwarya Rai, Lily Collins, and Sonam Kapoor. I think Thandie Newton would be the perfect person to join those legions wearing this black and brown ensemble which features a black one shoulder origami draped top with a dramatic train, black tailored classic pencil pants with a thick banded waistline and seam detailing, and detachable toffee faux leather ruched sleeves.

Mugler: Mugler ended up showing off season after the unexpected departure of its creative director David Koma with its Fall 2018 RTW collection. New creative director Casey Cadwallader presented his second collection for the brand and I am slowly coming around. It isn’t the most red carpet friendly brand, like it was under Koma, but there are pieces that I would like to be worn. Most of all I am obsessed with the blush, yellow, and purple fringe gown that that really made for a very dramatic moment. It was a real statement moment, but I have struggled with who would sell it on the red carpet. I thought about all of the fun that Heidi Klum had when she was wearing a similar fringe gown by project runway alumni Sean Kelly on the red carpet at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards and thought she might be perfect to give this Mugler fringe gown a moment as well.

No. 21: Another one of my favorite brands that I think is very underrated is No. 21. Alessandro Del’Aqua delivers chic Italian glamour in his collections for the brand and I am always excited to see what he will present next. There is no shortage of looks to make glamorous moments on the red carpet from the brands Resort 2019 collection. In fact I’ve already put a short suit from the brand in my San Diego Comic-Con wishes for Evan Rachel Wood. My favorite look from the collection was this silver one shoulder sequin cocktail dress which features a large pink bow detail on the shoulder and a contrasting color back panel. It is fun and flirty and I think that since Alison Brie is working with a new stylist recently that this might be a fun moment to bring to one of the cocktail events that she attends.Oscar de la Renta: When it comes to glamour does any brand to it better than Oscar de la Renta? I have always loved the looks that came down an Oscar de la Renta runway but when Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim took over the reigns of the brand they brought this new modern twist to the brand. It found a whole new life under these two and I am forever in love with it. I am already hoping that these two will be to Oscar what Karl Lagerfeld has been to Chanel. The brand has attracted a younger brand of celebrity since the two joined the brand including Emma Watson. She wore several looks from the brand last year while she was promoting Beauty and the Beast, and I would love to see her step onto a red carpet wearing this white strapless eyelet lace gown which features a sweetheart neckline, empire waist, contrast bow at the bustline, and an asymmetrical hemline.

Rosie Assoulin: When it comes to that relaxed glamour that often times goes over so well on the red carpet very few do it as well as Rosie Assoulin. She meshes bohemian elegance with drama and it makes for absolutely glamorous collections. I always look forward to seeing what she will present each season and the Resort 2019 collection might be my favorite one yet. Her brand is perfect for resort. It is the perfect mesh of dramatics and wear-ability. If I were a rich lady yachting the world I would want to sip my champagne on the sun deck wearing Rosie Assoulin. The brand has amassed a huge celebrity following including Naomie Harris who I think would be the perfect person to bring this navy strapless rainbow striped silk taffeta gown which features a fitted bodice that flares into a full, structured skirt and a defined sash detail waist to life on the red carpet.

Sachin + Babi: For the most part we don’t see Sachin + Babi dress a whole lot of the a-list, aside of Helen Mirren, but I really want to see more stars embrace the brands signature glamour on the red carpet. I feel like there are so many potential red carpet moments that are hiding in this collection. The gown I want to see most is this bright yellow strapless cocktail length pencil dress which features a dramatic bow attached at the back. We often see Amanda Seyfried rocking the most coveted labels like Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, and Prada on the red carpet, but I really do think that she would take this gown and own it.

Viktor & Rolf Sior: Finishing out this list the drama and glamour of Viktor & Rolf. I was really excited last September when the label relaunched ready-to-wear. I love the genius of the brand and I really do believe that there is a way to balance out the incredibly avant garde designs they send down the couture runways and the more wearable approach to glamour. That is what they have figured out with the launch of the Sior line. It is still dramatic, but still incredibly wearable. We have already seen Zendaya rock several looks from the first Sior collection, so I would love to see her bring the glamour to the red carpet wearing this lavender embroidered bow drape ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, pastel 3D floral embroidery detailing on the bodice, and a dramatic full skirt.

“Mission: Impossible – Fallout” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Tomorrow in London is the world premiere of Mission: Impossible – Fallout. At the moment that is the only premiere that I have been able to confirm, but I would bet that there will be more than one stop on a red carpet for this promo tour. I would imagine that the film will also have a traditional red carpet premiere in Los Angeles in addition to tomorrows premiere in LA, but dates are to be confirmed. Rebecca Ferguson is an extremely glamorous woman and I feel like she could be a real style star, but we haven’t seen that really major moment from her yet. I’m hoping that over the course of the promo tour for Mission: Impossible – Fallout that we will finally see that absolutely major moment(s) from Rebecca. I could have gone for a Ralph & Russo gown for the London premiere of the film, but that would be the typical choice wouldn’t it be? Instead I went for a sleeker moment than I did for her to wear for the London premiere with this off white Ralph & Russo Fall 2018 Couture silk crepe and double satin tailored gown which features long sleeves, a plunging v-neckline, asymmetric paneling, thigh high split, and crystal button details. This sexy glam moment would be perfect for a big premiere in LA especially when paired with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, matte red lips, a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Wonder’ crepe satin and lurex pointed toe pumps, and Cartier High Jewelry diamond and opal panther statement earrings. For this premiere I picked one of my favorite Resort 2019 gowns for the gorgeous Michelle Monaghan to rock on the red carpet. I love this marine blue Prabal Gurung Resort 2019 Grecian cape gown which features a fit and flare silhouette, a plunging v-neckline, defined waistband, thigh high split, button detail, and draped short sleeves and I really do think that Michelle would deliver it with grace and elegance on this red carpet. It does kinda remind me of another Prabal Gurung gown that Michelle wore last year to the New York City Ballet Fall Gala, but the way this gown is draped make this gown very different. Add a romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of silver glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Fawne’ sandals, a silver Jimmy Choo ‘J Box’ clutch, and a pair of Jacob & Co. diamond and aquamarine chandelier earrings to really make this a very glamorous moment for a summer movie premiere. I really want to see Vanessa Kirby blossom into a real style star over the course of this promo tour. With the help of power stylist Micaela Erlanger (who also dresses Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep, and Diane Kruger) and a world of designers who are willing to dress the beloved Princess Margret from The Crown I feel like it should be really easy. But there hasn’t been a single of her looks that I have really loved. Her choice in dress hasn’t been terrible, but her hair is what has ruined all of the moments she has given in the past. I would love to see Vanessa give us a chic gown moment for this premiere wearing this pale lime and black Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 crystallized plisse gown which features a soft tulle overlay, halter neckline and belted waistline, but only if she gives us a glamorous romantic updo. I think that this gown fits in with Vanessa’s sense of style and I think that with the right styling it would be perfect. I would pair the gown with simple defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Manolo Blahnik ‘Esparra’ sandals, and a selection of Dior High Jewelry including ‘Petit Panache Opal’ earrings and matching cocktail ring to ensure the perfect meshing of edge and glamour for this red carpet moment for Vanessa. Rounding out the list again today is the gorgeous and glamorous Angela Bassett. I want to see some major moments out of her over this promo tour and that is exactly what I can see happening with this mulberry Pamella Roland Resort 2019 crepe handkerchief jumpsuit which features an illusion plunging neckline, keyhole back, peplum detailing, and flared pants. This is the sexy and glamorous alternative to a gown that I could totally see Angela selling on this red carpet. Pair it with full bouncy voluminous teased curls, smokey eyes, nude lips, matching Roberto Cavalli asymmetric strap pumps, and a pair of de Grisogono diamond and ruby ball drop earrings and she could easily steal the show on this red carpet.
