“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,'” SAG Awards co-executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety about this years ceremony. That has me very intrigued. After taking a lot of time to find my inspiration to write wishes for this years event I’ve finally found it. While I am disappointed that this years show isn’t going to be live I am still excited to see what fashion the stars will bring to this show. Another of the producers for the show Kathy Connell said “We hope they [the nominees] respect the show enough and everybody does, and their fellow actors, that they don’t want to disappoint the audience at home by letting any surprises go.” So far this is true and it seems like even stylists are holding images of looks to release them when the red carpet would usually take place. 
For the Golden Globes Carey Mulligan rocked a draped white Prada column gown. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the gown and the look was lacking great hair and makeup. She kept a similar beauty look with a white satin suit for the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like white has been her color of choice this awards season so with that in mind for the SAG Awards I would love to see Carey bring something incredibly chic from head to toe to life. I found the perfect look for Carey in this vintage Chanel Couture ensemble which is a white short sleeve lace blouse, a black banded waist, and a white sequin diamond pattern embroidered a-line tea length organza skirt from the brands Spring 2001 Couture collection. I have been loving vintage Chanel in lieu of many of Virginie Viard’s collections and I believe that Carey would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this gorgeous gown. With a soft curly romantic updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and antique Victorian white pearl and white diamond silver-upon-blacken gold drop earrings from London based vintage jewelry dealer Jewellery Discovery I know that Carey would have a phenomenal glamour moment on her hands. 
Kerry Washington hasn’t made any appearances this awards season, but with her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series nomination at the SAG Awards I am praying that she ends up serving us a look. I looked at a lot of dresses and there wasn’t a whole lot that spoke to me. This black Iris Van Herpen Spring 2021 Couture high low strapless gown with a peplum train, mini underskirt, and intricate sequin embroidery was the gown that really spoke to me. I can’t say that Kerry is someone I would normally think of when looking at an Iris Van Herpen collection, but the moment I saw this dress I couldn’t help but shake the idea of Kerry bringing this gown to life. I’ve loved her looks since she’s worked with Law Roach and the two make magic together. It would be a super cool edgy glam moment and I believe that Kerry would absolutely be able to sell this gown to me. I would add a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Moon Crystal’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a statement emerald and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace to really make this a statement edgy glam moment for Kerry from head to toe.
Leslie Odom Jr. has been showing up in some super cool fashion moments for award shows so far this season. He rocked hot off the runway Valentino Couture for the Golden Globe awards and Celine look from a collection we haven’t seen a lookbook from for the Critics Choice Awards. I am very excited to see what is last few stops along awards season including this weekends SAG Awards. I’ve always thought that Leslie in classic menswear styles with a twist. That is exactly what I found in the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear collection. I adore this black leopard print tuxedo jacket styled with a silk button down shirt and black tuxedo trousers. It is a cool moment and I definitely believe that Leslie would be able to sell this look with ease. I would keep the styling rather simple finishing the look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ glittered velvet and patent leather oxfords. 
Nicole Kidman dress in her best custom Louis Vuitton for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year to partake in the ceremony virtually with her family from their living room in Australia. I am very excited to see what she will wear for this weekends SAG Awards where she is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series. I had several options for what I would like to see Nicole wearing, but it was this black liquid sequin Giambattista Valli Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features a single sleeve, floral embellishment, and a bow detail on the shoulder that really spoke to me. I feel like it this gown is incredibly sleek and glamorous with a hint of sex appeal and Nicole would easily be able to make this look come to life on the red carpet. With this being a pre-recorded virtual event I know this simpler silhouette would be perfect for Nicole. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, black crystal embellished mesh Rene Caovilla pointed toe slingback pumps, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of Georgian pendeloque rose cut white diamond drop earrings, a pink spinel and white diamond cocktail ring, and a 1960’s Colombian emerald and white diamond cocktail ring would all tie this look up together in one glamorous package. 
Viola Davis has been loving bold prints lately. She’s rocked Lavie by CK for the Golden Globes, XulyBet for a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and Duro Olowu for the NAACP Image Awards. Each one was statement making and bold. Never a look I would have expected to see from Viola and who knows if they are looks she would have chosen to wear had this been a regular year. I didn’t go the bold pattern for my SAG Awards wishes I really wanted to see Viola wearing this teal chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2021 RTW a-line flowing gown with a sweetheart crystal halter neckline, ruched bodice, and a crystal waist. I saw this gown and knew immediately it was perfect for Viola. It was the first gown I picked for my SAG Awards wishes. It was actually the thought of not putting this wish into the universe that kept me coming back to look at my wishes and persevering to make sure I got them up. To make this a perfect red carpet moment I would love to see Viola style this gown with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, deep burgundy glossy lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim faceted rectangle clutch, a pair of strappy silver Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and selection of Thelma West jewels including simple white diamond drop earrings and a statement white diamond cushion cut cocktail ring.

Headed into the nomination this year Zendaya’s performance in Malcolm & Marie was buzzing a lot for different nominations. When the Globe and SAG Awards were announced I hadn’t seen the film yet and I was so mad that neither nominated Zendaya. That being said, I just didn’t love the film. It wasn’t about her performance because it was stellar, but it was a great performance with no substance from the script. It left me wanting more. I will say that even in spite of my feelings I was happy to see the Critics Choice Awards nominate Zendaya. Not only did they nominate her for Best Actress, but they will be honoring her with the #SeeHer Award. So we know that we are going to see Zendaya in some way on Sunday night. I hope that she heads to the studio where the host and presenters will gather to accept the #SeeHer Award and do so in high style. The last look today is for Shira Haas who I’ve done nothing but Chanel looks for all awards season long and I am not changing that idea any time soon. While I am almost always against brand ambassadors and consistently wearing looks from the same designer all the time I feel like Shira is the perfect ambassador for Chanel. She has a look that we don’t often see from the brand, but her edgy youthfulness works for the brand in a way that other Chanel ambassadors don’t. As I said above I was thinking about an Elie Saab Couture gown for Cynthia Erivo to wear as a presenter this weekend at the Golden Globe Awards. I was loving the drama, but when I changed courses and went with Catherine in Saab I needed to go back to the drawing board for Cynthia. Immediately I went to Christopher John Rogers for a dramatic moment. I thought about Cynthia giving us an 80’s inspired glam moment in this fuschia strapless crinkle pleated taffeta strapless gown from the Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW collection with an asymmetric tea length tulip skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train and fell in love. This gown is a risk because it is all the things about the 80’s we usually hate, but I feel like if anyone could sell it to me it would be Cynthia. She knows how to take risk and make them work as well as own a really dramatic moment so I just believe this look would be perfect. Andra Day was a surprise nominee this year. It seemed like The United States vs. Billie Holiday was out of the running for awards this year, but Andra has collected a whole host of awards nominations this year. I love Andra’s sense of style and I really want to see her shine this awards season. She has a retro sensibility and I will be highlighting that in all of my awards season wishes starting with the major moment I would love to see her wear for the Golden Globe Awards. The moment I saw this Schiaparelli Spring 2021 Couture ensemble which features a strapless black column gown with a half moon neckline and a sheer paneled waist paired with a dramatic red silk opera coat I immediately thought of Andra. Schitt’s Creek took the Emmy’s by storm and swept in EVERY category during the show. The cast is one of the few who did it right by hosting a socially distanced viewing gala complete with it’s own red carpet. Annie Murphy showed up to that event in a black Valentino suit with a sheer bodice and some very interesting sneakers. It was cool, but for the Golden Globe Awards where her role in the show has earned her a Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Supporting Role nomination, one she very well most likely win. It isn’t often that the stars of the TV comedy category are offered great moments from top tier designers, but I think that Catherine has that pull right now. But for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards where he is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role I want him to really give us a fashion moment. My final wish today is for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy nominee Michelle Pfeiffer. I go back and forth on how I feel about Michelle’s style. I hated the Brunello Cucinelli glittered lurex dress she wore last year, and this year I really want to see her give us superb glamour when she makes her appearance during this years event. I would love to see Michelle dive real deep into the couture archives and pull this beautiful red silk cap sleeve gown which features a v-neck, belted waist, seam defined hips, and a center split which hails from the Yves Saint Laurent Fall 1986 Couture collection. I love vintage YSL couture. It is really all about cut and glamour and there are so many moments I would love to see worn on today’s red carpets. Her role as polarizing conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly in Mrs. America has earned Cate Blanchett her 11th Golden Globe nomination. In the last year Cate has really put forward in her initiative to wear and rewear items in her closet. We saw this on display most recently when Cate rewore looks from Armani, Esteban Cortezar, and Alexander McQueen during her times as the jury president at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I wonder if that will be the case should we see her take part in this years Golden Globe Awards telecast. If she does I would absolutely adore seeing Cate pull out the black velvet Armani Prive gown with white ostrich feather cape that she first wore to the 2018 Venice Film Festival premiere of A Star Is Born. Since 1962 Jane Fonda has been nominated for 15 Golden Globe Awards and has won seven. This year the icon will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. This award is given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations Board of Governors for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”. We can definitely say that Jane has done that from her role in Barbarella to Grace and Frankie. She has been a force on the screen for almost sixty years. I am very interested in what Jane may wear for this occasion. She made a big deal last year at the Oscars re-wearing a ruby red crystal embellished Elie Saab Couture gown first worn in Cannes with a coat that she touted as the last piece of clothing she would ever buy. So I would imagine that Jane will most likely bring something out of her closet to accept this years award. We’ve already had a major red carpet at the Venice Film Festival stolen from us. She is very much in contention to take home this trophy so I would definitely want to see Regina give us a major glamour moment. I found that in this orchid purple Antonio Grimaldi Spring 2021 Couture on shoulder gown which features a single blouson sleeve, defined waist, column git, and a sweeping train. Up first is Mank star Amanda Seyfried. I’ve long been a big fan of Amanda’s style and I definitely would have loved to see what she was going to bring to this red carpet. As I was looking for what I wanted to pick I was also in the midst of archiving images of looks I don’t think have been worn on a red carpet from the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s which is where I found this black pleated Prada sleeveless midi dress which features leather belt banded details. The dress hails from the Prada Fall 2002 RTW collection and is a super chic moment. It is glamorous yet bohemian and I definitely think that speaks to Amanda’s sense of style. As I feel like this dress transcends trends and season it is still perfect for now. It’s a classic. For the cancelled AFI Awards red carpet I would have dressed Riz in this grey Dior Men Resort 2021 Menswear single breasted suit with peak lapels, striped detail on the cuffs and waist band paired with a matching stripped button down. It isn’t a boundary pushing menswear moment, but that isn’t really what Riz is about. He does pick things that aren’t always your ‘classics’ but more of things that are classics with a twist.
