2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,'” SAG Awards co-executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety about this years ceremony. That has me very intrigued. After taking a lot of time to find my inspiration to write wishes for this years event I’ve finally found it. While I am disappointed that this years show isn’t going to be live I am still excited to see what fashion the stars will bring to this show. Another of the producers for the show Kathy Connell said “We hope they [the nominees] respect the show enough and everybody does, and their fellow actors, that they don’t want to disappoint the audience at home by letting any surprises go.” So far this is true and it seems like even stylists are holding images of looks to release them when the red carpet would usually take place. For the Golden Globes Carey Mulligan rocked a draped white Prada column gown. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the gown and the look was lacking great hair and makeup. She kept a similar beauty look with a white satin suit for the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like white has been her color of choice this awards season so with that in mind for the SAG Awards I would love to see Carey bring something incredibly chic from head to toe to life. I found the perfect look for Carey in this vintage Chanel Couture ensemble which is a white short sleeve lace blouse, a black banded waist, and a white sequin diamond pattern embroidered a-line tea length organza skirt from the brands Spring 2001 Couture collection. I have been loving vintage Chanel in lieu of many of Virginie Viard’s collections and I believe that Carey would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this gorgeous gown. With a soft curly romantic updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and antique Victorian white pearl and white diamond silver-upon-blacken gold drop earrings from London based vintage jewelry dealer Jewellery Discovery I know that Carey would have a phenomenal glamour moment on her hands. Kerry Washington hasn’t made any appearances this awards season, but with her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series nomination at the SAG Awards I am praying that she ends up serving us a look. I looked at a lot of dresses and there wasn’t a whole lot that spoke to me. This black Iris Van Herpen Spring 2021 Couture high low strapless gown with a peplum train, mini underskirt, and intricate sequin embroidery was the gown that really spoke to me. I can’t say that Kerry is someone I would normally think of when looking at an Iris Van Herpen collection, but the moment I saw this dress I couldn’t help but shake the idea of Kerry bringing this gown to life. I’ve loved her looks since she’s worked with Law Roach and the two make magic together. It would be a super cool edgy glam moment and I believe that Kerry would absolutely be able to sell this gown to me. I would add a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Moon Crystal’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a statement emerald and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace to really make this a statement edgy glam moment for Kerry from head to toe.Leslie Odom Jr. has been showing up in some super cool fashion moments for award shows so far this season. He rocked hot off the runway Valentino Couture for the Golden Globe awards and Celine look from a collection we haven’t seen a lookbook from for the Critics Choice Awards. I am very excited to see what is last few stops along awards season including this weekends SAG Awards. I’ve always thought that Leslie in classic menswear styles with a twist. That is exactly what I found in the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear collection. I adore this black leopard print tuxedo jacket styled with a silk button down shirt and black tuxedo trousers. It is a cool moment and I definitely believe that Leslie would be able to sell this look with ease. I would keep the styling rather simple finishing the look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ glittered velvet and patent leather oxfords. Nicole Kidman dress in her best custom Louis Vuitton for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year to partake in the ceremony virtually with her family from their living room in Australia. I am very excited to see what she will wear for this weekends SAG Awards where she is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series. I had several options for what I would like to see Nicole wearing, but it was this black liquid sequin Giambattista Valli Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features a single sleeve, floral embellishment, and a bow detail on the shoulder that really spoke to me. I feel like it this gown is incredibly sleek and glamorous with a hint of sex appeal and Nicole would easily be able to make this look come to life on the red carpet. With this being a pre-recorded virtual event I know this simpler silhouette would be perfect for Nicole. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, black crystal embellished mesh Rene Caovilla pointed toe slingback pumps, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of Georgian pendeloque rose cut white diamond drop earrings, a pink spinel and white diamond cocktail ring, and a 1960’s Colombian emerald and white diamond cocktail ring would all tie this look up together in one glamorous package. Viola Davis has been loving bold prints lately. She’s rocked Lavie by CK for the Golden Globes, XulyBet for a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and Duro Olowu for the NAACP Image Awards. Each one was statement making and bold. Never a look I would have expected to see from Viola and who knows if they are looks she would have chosen to wear had this been a regular year. I didn’t go the bold pattern for my SAG Awards wishes I really wanted to see Viola wearing this teal chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2021 RTW a-line flowing gown with a sweetheart crystal halter neckline, ruched bodice, and a crystal waist. I saw this gown and knew immediately it was perfect for Viola. It was the first gown I picked for my SAG Awards wishes. It was actually the thought of not putting this wish into the universe that kept me coming back to look at my wishes and persevering to make sure I got them up. To make this a perfect red carpet moment I would love to see Viola style this gown with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, deep burgundy glossy lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim faceted rectangle clutch, a pair of strappy silver Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and selection of Thelma West jewels including simple white diamond drop earrings and a statement white diamond cushion cut cocktail ring.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021. You can see all my wishes for this years show here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I am still riding a glamour high from Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, but I am definitely moving forward to this weekends Critics Choice Awards. If this past weekend said anything it just proved that stars are ready to get dressed up and have some fun, even if they are still joining the shows virtually. I definitely am keeping that in mind when it comes to picking looks for the nominees for this weekends Critics Choice Awards. While we eventually get a great floor length look via social media we really only see the stars from the waist up. So all these looks are visually beautiful especially from the waist up. I will say I loved Carey Mulligan’s Prada gown at the Globes in the Zoom setting, but in the full length I wasn’t a huge fan of it all. I want Carey to consistently bring major fashion moments this awards season. So for this weekends Critics Choice Awards I turned to Prada, once again. Now I will say that I had already picked this blue and black beaded and fringe Prada high low flapper gown for Carey long before she showed up in Prada this weekend, and I’ve decided to continue to run with it. I thought of pulling this gown after seeing Dua Lipa pull some of the costumes Prada made for The Great Gatsby for one of her music videos. I honestly had never thought about putting the fabulous creations in wishes before. I was kind of hesitant to do it for Carey since she was one of the stars of the film, but then I asked myself why I was and I couldn’t give myself a good answer. This gown wasn’t worn by any of the main cast members and was just worn by an extra in one of the party scenes and I feel like it deserves a major red carpet moment. I think that styling this gown with a loose wavy bob, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of major black trimmed silver glitter Miu Miu t-strap chunky heel sandals, and antique Fred Leighton old mine white diamond tassel pendant earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for Carey. Emma Corrin’s winning Golden Globes look was a custom Miu Miu gown inspired by vintage clowns. It was a look that’s for sure. I can’t say I loved it, but I want Emma to give me fashion and glamour for the Critics Choice Awards this weekend. I would love to see Emma, who debuted a much shorter hairstyle, wear this black satin Chanel Pre-Fall 2021 column gown with a dramatic train and a crystal embellished bodice. I would definitely say that this gown is glamour defined and I feel it would be a superb moment for her to bring to life. I would love to see her edge this look up taking her short boyish cut and giving it a punky styling, thick kohl rimmed eyes, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ strappy crystal heel sandals, and a white diamond DeBeers ‘Radiating Lotus’ white diamond collar necklace.Maria Bakalova had one of my favorite gowns at the Globes wearing a gorgeous raspberry red Armani Prive crystal embellished strapless ballgown. I didn’t really know what to expect and whatever expectations were in my mind were blown away. I actually ended up dropping the Dior Couture tea length gown I originally had picked for Maria for these wishes and went for something that I feel is a little more fashiony with this blush to wine ombre Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 one shoulder tea length dress which features intricate drape details, exposed corset, and an a-line skirt. I love a great McQueen moment and I know her stylist Jessica Paster does too so I could definitely see this being a look that she would put on the rack for Maria. I think that taking this dress and styling it with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of hot pink Manolo Blahnik ‘Selunga’ buckle detailed silk slingback sandals, and dazzling pink sapphire and ruby Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings would definitely give Maria another amazing fashion moment this virtual awards season. My wish for Ma Rainey herself Viola Davis to wear for the Critics Choice Awards is a complete 180 from the custom African print Lavie by Claude Kameni gown she wore for the Globes. I was obsessed with that whole moment and I love that Viola went there. For the Critics Choice Awards I went with the archive fashion route picking this simple yet very glamorous black chiffon Michael Kors Spring 2005 RTW one shoulder gown which features intricate draping on the bodice and an floating a-line skirt. I’ve always loved seeing Viola in Michael Kors on the red carpet and I feel like this gown is definitely something she would be drawn to. I would nod to a black designer in this look choosing to style this gown with Vanleles jewels including a pair of ‘Out of Africa’ rose gold set white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced ruby and rubelite fan drop earrings, a yellow gold ‘The Nile’ sculptural pave set white diamond necklace, and an ‘Out of Africa’ rose gold set white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced ruby and rubelite cocktail ring to add a pop of color to this look. A natural pulled back tight curl hairstyle, smokey eyes, glossy black cherry red lips, a gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ snakeskin embossed clutch, and a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty 120’ ankle strap sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this moment. Headed into the nomination this year Zendaya’s performance in Malcolm & Marie was buzzing a lot for different nominations. When the Globe and SAG Awards were announced I hadn’t seen the film yet and I was so mad that neither nominated Zendaya. That being said, I just didn’t love the film. It wasn’t about her performance because it was stellar, but it was a great performance with no substance from the script. It left me wanting more. I will say that even in spite of my feelings I was happy to see the Critics Choice Awards nominate Zendaya. Not only did they nominate her for Best Actress, but they will be honoring her with the #SeeHer Award. So we know that we are going to see Zendaya in some way on Sunday night. I hope that she heads to the studio where the host and presenters will gather to accept the #SeeHer Award and do so in high style. I went full feminine glam picking this flamingo pink chiffon Georges Hobeika Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrically draped gown. I was looking for the perfect look and this was really the only one that spoke to me. I know that she would know exactly how to work this gown to really bring it to life perfectly. Taking this gown and adding a sleek bun updo, defined winged soft smokey eyes, glossy deep taupe lips, a pair of light pink Casadei platform ankle strap sandals, and MAJOR white diamond Yeprem High Jewelry ‘Gravity’ cluster meets fringe drop earrings would definitely make this the absolutely major moment I am craving from Zendaya.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The Palm Springs International Film Festival and Film Awards Gala is not presenting an in-person event this year due to the pandemic, however the Palm Springs International Film Society is recognizing this year’s best in filmmaking. In a special on Entertainment Tonight later this week will celebrate the honorees awards with exclusive interviews. The Palm Springs International Film Society looks forward to seeing us again with a red carpet in in 2022! The PSIFF Black Tie Awards Gala is usually the kickoff to awards season. It is traditionally the first red carpet after the new year ahead of the Golden Globe Awards. With some of the nominees this year I am very disappointed that we will not get a red carpet, but I still wanted to talk about what I would have loved to see the honorees bring to life on the red carpet. So I am taking a break from my Golden Globe Awards wishes today and tomorrow to bring you wishes for these nominees. Andra Day has earned herself several big award nominations this year so far with nods from the Globes and the Critics Choice Awards. There is still Oscar buzz for her as well thanks to her performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday which earned her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Had there been a red carpet this year I would have loved to see Andra give us something different than I have picked for her in recent posts. So far this year I have gone for really retro glam looks from Giambattista Valli Couture and Schiaparelli Couture for the songstress turned actress to bring to life. I was doing some looking and I saw this black and white Georges Hobeika Spring 2021 RTW asymmetrical caped gown which features a high neck, beaded fern leaf detail on the bodice, belted waist, and a high low hem. I don’t know what about this gown spoke to me, but the thought of Andra bringing this moment to life on a red carpet was a phenomenal idea for me. While it screams modernity I also see that with the right styling it could still scream retro glamour with the right styling. The whole retro glam vibe is definitely Andra’s signature so I would style this look with a sleek beehive embellished with a silver crystal embellished black satin Prada headband, defined winged eyes, deep glossy berry lips, a hot pink satin Gucci envelope clutch, black satin Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sphera’ crystal detailed ankle strap chunky heel platform sandals, and a selection of Anabela Chan jewels including a pair of ruby garnet, pink sapphire, & rose tourmaline ‘Lily’ pendant stud earrings, an amethyst, pink sapphires, peridot, blue topaz, canary citrine, coral cabochon, and white diamond ‘Rose Neredies’ cocktail ring, a ruby, fuchsia pink sapphire, and rose pink sapphire ‘Nova Coil’ ring, and a crimson red rubellite ‘Mirage’ cocktail ring with marquise, trillion and round brilliant-cut rubies, orange sapphires, and rose tourmalines. Carey Mulligan could very well take her role in Promising Young Woman all the way to the Oscars. That performance has gotten her honored at the Palm Springs Film Festival with the International Star Award.  I am really looking at all of the designers Carey tends to gravitate toward, but also making sure I am making wishes I really want to see from her. I’ve already picked looks from Dior and Chanel for Carey and decided to go with a little bit of a wish picking this navy silk Giorgio Armani Spring 2021 RTW cap sleeve tea length gown which features a plunging neckline, intricate beaded flower embroidery, and a center split. This look screams glamour and and I feel like it would be something perfect for Carey to bring to life for this red carpet. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a navy satin Jil Sander ‘Goju Small’ clutch, metallic blue Giorgio Armani peep toe t-strap sandals, and a pair of London by De Beers ‘Thames Path’ white diamond cluster earrings with teardrops would finish this look absolutely beautifully. Leslie Odom Jr. is another who is very likely to run awards season all the way to the Oscars. He was phenomenal as Sam Cooke in One Night In Miami so I definitely understand. So I am definitely keeping an eye on him. I am really excited to see what major menswear moments he will wear over the course of awards season. Had there been an actual red carpet for this years PSIFF Black Tie Awards Gala I would have loved to see Leslie wearing this black Versace Pre-Fall 2021 tuxedo with a two tone black and tan shawl lapel one button lapel tuxedo jacket. I adore this tuxedo and I would love to see this look on Leslie especially if styled with a white Versace collarless button down with a black ribbon detail at the neck, and gold crystal embellished buttons on the neck and cuff, a pair of black and cream leopard print Christian Louboutin ‘Style on the Nile’ loafers, and a black and gold Versace ‘V-Race’ duel time watch. Riz Ahmed is another one of the men I am very excited to see on the red carpet this  awards season. I want to see him bring some very interesting moments on the red carpet. He is the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor winner for his performance in Sound of Metal. Had there been a red carpet this year for the PSIFF I would have opted to put Riz in this black and white print Haider Ackermann Fall 2020 Menswear tuxedo which features a thin lapel blazer and black slim fit trousers. Now on the runway the look was styled with a a three button vest and no shirt, but I think I would ditch the vest and add a white Haider Ackermann crystal collar button up dress shirt to really make this a super cool menswear moment. To add the perfect finishing touches to this look I would add a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Nit Night’ grosgrain strap and silver spike studded loafers and a black alligator strap Cartier ‘Rotonde de Cartier’ Astromystérieux watch. It would make another major menswear moment that I would die to have in my own closet for this awards season. Finishing out today is Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress honoree Viola Davis. I adored her performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and I am very excited to see her looks this awards season. So far this awards season in terms of wishes I’ve gone with Elie Saab and Jason Wu for Viola. I have all gone for color moments and I am not slowing that down now. I would love to see Viola pull out this baby pink strapless LBV Spring 2021 RTW column gown with a cowl detailed sweetheart neckline. LBV is a new line for the designer Elizabeth Kennedy who was a red carpet powerhouse for a hot second and I want to see this line get all kinds of red carpet love. The silhouette of this gown is definitely something that Viola has been drawn to in the past. A full afro style, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a money green and pink Judith Leiber Couture x Ashley Longshore ‘I’ll Pick Up The Tab’ crystal embellished minaudiere, a pair of metallic baby pink Gianvito Rossi strappy ankle strap sandals, and a selection of David Morris white and pink diamond jewels including a pair of teardrop earrings and a statement collar necklace would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

Well the Golden Globe Awards are coming up in just 10 days. I am ready. I am ready for fashion and I am ready for glamour. I want to see all the nominees and presenters for this years ceremony give us MAJOR fashion moments despite the fact the show will be partially socially distanced in person and partially remote. At the Emmy Awards which took on a similar format last year. We didn’t get a whole lot of major gown looks. I hope that will be different at the Globes. I want drama, I want sequins, I want glitter, I want tulle, I want couture. Today’s set of wishes feature five phenomenal moments I pray to the fashion gods come to fruition. Shall we get into it?H.E.R. is nominated for Best Original Song thanks to “Fight For You” from Judas and the Black Messiah and I really want to see her bring a major look. Her glamour is all about meshing bohemian, rock and roll, and glamour. For her look for the Golden Globes I went with an 80’s glam inspiration with this black and white Jean Louis Sebaj Spring 2021 RTW gown which features a dramatic shawl lapel inspired asymmetrical neckline, a single long sleeve, wrap style skirt, and a thigh high split for her to bring to life for her first Golden Globe Awards red carpet. I saw this gown and thought it was super sexy yet still modest and all glamour. To make this a perfect moment I would finish the look with a sleek hairstyle with curled laid edges, defined eyes behind silver round Linda Farrow ‘Carousel C2’ sunglasses (a signature of hers), bold red lips, a pair of black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Round Chic Alta 120’ peep toe scalloped half d’orsay platform ankle strap pumps, and a wide selection of major Butani jewels including white diamond and emerald drop earrings, a sleek statement white diamond wave collar necklace, and a selection of rings including pear shaped emerald circled band trimmed in white diamonds, two white diamond and emerald flower rings, and a four row white diamond cocktail ring. Kaley Cuoco would have made her first Golden Globe Awards red carpet since the end of The Big Bang Theory. It’s crazy to me that the comedienne is just now earning her first Globe nomination thanks to her new HBO Max comedy The Flight Attendant. I would love to see the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy nominee give us frothy glamour wearing this gold and ivory silk tulle strapless Vera Wang Fall 2009 Bridal collection strapless ballgown which features flower applique detail and floral crystal embellishment details. She has long had a relationship with Vera Wang and I feel like it is a perfect pairing. I think that pulling this gown out of the archives and giving it a red carpet moment finally with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, blush pink lips, a pair of gold leather Stuart Weitzman ‘Ellsie’ strappy sandals, and Brumani ‘Looping Shine’ collection champagne quartz and white diamond four stone drop earrings to make it feminine glamour defined from head to toe. Maria Bakalova is probably the most surprising, yet not surprising star to be nominated for a Golden Globe this year. She had a breakout role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and has landed herself a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. We haven’t yet seen her on an actual red carpet but she has been embraced by labels like Dior, Miu Miu, Giambattista Valli, and The Vampire’s Wife for promoting the film while still in lockdown. For the Golden Globe Awards I would love to see Maria bring this candy pink, blue, and yellow Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture pleated gown which features of a strapless neckline, bow detail on the waist, and a short train. It is a dazzling and glamorous moment and I believe it would be a fabulous moment for Maria to bring to life on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. I think that this is one of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s better creations and would be such a  glamorous choice. Style it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of dark blue Aquazzura ‘Tequila 105’ crystal studded ankle strap strappy sandals, and a simple multi-cut white diamond Tiffany & Co. reverie necklace and it would be that incredibly glamorous moment. The red custom old Hollywood inspired Atelier Versace gown that Nicole Kidman wore to the 2020 Golden Globe Awards was one of my favorite looks of last year. She always brings glamour and I would expect nothing else this year where she is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance in The Undoing. I LOVED this limited series and I would love to see Nicole serve a moment as she is one of the top 3 I would say in the category with Anya Taylor Joy and Cate Blanchett. I would love to see her give us sleek elegance wearing this white Fendi Spring 2021 Couture gown which features a jewel neckline, defined shoulders, wide long sleeves, and 3D flower details that filter up from the hem. This gown needs someone with tall statuesque regal presence and we know that Nicole has it. I feel like with a sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a white Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ white satin clutch, a pair of white mesh & leather Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi’ pointed toe pumps, and vintage 20th century white diamond and pearl drop earrings from Fred Leighton it would just ooze sleek sophisticated glamour. Finishing out today is Viola Davis whose performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom has earned her a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. This is her sixth Golden Globe nomination and I am always excited to see what she will bring to this red carpet. Over the years she’s worn Zac Posen, Emilio Pucci, Donna Karan Atelier, Marchesa, and Michael Kors for the Globes over the years and I am hoping she brings something major. I knew almost immediately that I wanted to pick this ice blue silk chiffon Elie Saab Spring 2021 ruched detail one shoulder gown which features a knot detail on the shoulder and a draped sash detail on the back of the waist. It is a superb moment and I can just imagine it being an absolutely glamorous goddess moment for Viola to wear for the Golden Globe Awards. I want to make this a shining star moment having Viola style this gown with an afro puff updo, defined eyes, deep glossy red lips, a silver metallic snakeskin leather Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of chandelier crystal trimmed Aquazzura ‘Temptation 105’ peep toe slingback pumps, and dazzling white diamond David Morris feather style chandelier earrings.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

2021 AFI Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

One of the first events of awards season is typically one of the most casual. The week before the Golden Globe Awards the American Film Institute honors the top films and television programs with a luncheon. There aren’t categories at this event just the honors the programs so the air is very different than many of the other awards events. There isn’t the same pressure to have the winning look. The guests usually bring some superb luncheon fashion moments. Now this year the AFI Awards will have a virtual event, but I am going to continue to dream about what could have been on this red carpet with a couple of wish lists full of major moments for the stars of the programs who will be honored.  Anya Taylor Joy’s performance in The Queen’s Gambit is definitely what made this mini-series make the list of the AFI’s Top TV Programs this year. I always love to see Anya on a red carpet because of her quirky sense of style. When I was thinking what I would love to see Anya bring to life for a luncheon red carpet my mind immediately went to this black layered eyelet lace Loewe Spring 2021 RTW dress with v-neckline, ruffled sleeves, and an a-line skirt immediately popped into my mind. I felt like this would definitely speak to that very quirky side of Anya’s style. The dress isn’t exactly easy to pull off, but I feel like the effortlessness of Anya’s demeanor would easily make this a major moment for her. A sleek side parted knotted bun updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black and floral print Aquazzura ‘Rendez Vous’ gold strap pointed toe mules, and Irene Neuwirth Gemmy Gem Collection one of a kind pair of 18k yellow and white gold chandelier earrings set with beryl, emeralds, pink and green tourmaline, full cut diamonds, and finished with diamond pavé hooks would finish this look perfectly. Bridgerton took the world by storm with its Christmas Day release. Since then it has become the most streamed show Netflix has ever had with a record 82 million households reached around the world. So it comes as no surprise that the show was honored with the title of one of the AFI Top TV Programs of 2020. Nicola Coughlan has definitely come out of this as a true fashion girl. She is working with stylist Aimee Croysdill and giving us looks from major fashion labels like Simone Rocha, Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Batsheva, and more. So I am really looking forward to the days of in person red carpets again so that we can see all the lewks that Nicola could bring to the red carpet. For this red carpet I went for something soft and feminine for the look I would have loved to see from Nicola with this yellow daisy print Giambattista Valli Resort 2021 RTW long sleeve chiffon dress which features long sleeves, an floating a-line skirt, keyhole neckline detail, and cummerbund style waist. It gives me slight vibes of her Bridgerton  character Penelope Featherington but in a modern way. I feel like I would definitely love seeing this curvy, blond bombshell bringing this feminine moment to dress to life on the red carpet. A soft romantic casual updo, defined eyes, bright pink glossy lips, a yellow by FAR ‘Mini Custard’ croc embossed leather top handle bag, a pair of soft yellow Fendi ‘Colibri’ sheer paneled pointed toe pumps, and simple yellow gold set Norman Silverman white diamond flower stud earrings would definitely have added the perfect finishing touches to this look for Nicola.Bridgerton‘s duchess herself Phoebe Dynevor is becoming a fashion girl herself as well. She was part of the virtual front row for the Christian Dior Couture show and has been embraced by Chanel. So I know that she will be serving looks on the red carpet as soon as red carpets can start again. Had there been a red carpet for the AFI Awards I would have loved to see Phoebe rock this ivory satin Emilia Wickstead Spring 2021 RTW ‘Xena’ navy boat pattern printed sleeveless dress with an a-line silhouette, square neckline, and a mini hemline. It is simple and chic and that is exactly what works perfectly for the AFI Awards red carpet. Creating the perfect red carpet moment with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a navy velvet Christian Dior ‘Mini Lady Dior’ cannage quilted top handle bag, navy ombre glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ pointed toe pumps, and Mateo New York 14K gold and white diamond huggie earrings with detachable pearl drops would ensure that Phoebe definitely continues to show she is really a fashion girl. Regina King’s feature film directorial debut One Night In Miami is on the list of the AFI Awards Best Films of 2020 and I and couldn’t be more excited about the possibility of another awards season run for her. For this more casual event I would have loved to see Regina give us this super cool Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2021 moment which features a black and white polka dotted short sleeve knitted silk wool cotton shirt and a pair of grey and white pleated zebra printed crepe wide leg trousers with a wide black belted waist. I originally had a dress on this list for Regina, but this cool moment definitely spoke to Regina’s sense of style to me. This is definitely not the usual look we see at the AFI Awards, but I really do think it would have been the perfect look for Regina to bring to life with a bun of braids, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Bingirl 130’ platform chunky sandals, and 18k white gold Djula ‘2 Sun’ white diamond detailed hoop earrings. It isn’t often we see couture at the AFI Awards since it is a casual luncheon setting and couture for noon is more reserved for photocalls in Cannes as opposed to luncheons in LA. That being said I felt drawn to freshly presented Chanel Spring 2021 Couture Unorthodox star Shira Haas. She has proved herself to be quite the Chanel girl after wearing several looks from the French luxury house last year including couture for the virtual Emmy Awards. I thought this black and gold tweed ensemble which features a sleeveless double breasted vest with big gold button and boot cut trousers was a very chic moment and I think that it would bring some cool girl couture to the AFI Awards red carpet. Styled with Shira’s buzz cut, soft lined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black patent leather Chanel gold button detailed loafers, and a Repossi ‘Serti Sur Vide’ 18k rose gold & white diamond ear cuff it would just ooze cool girl chic. Finishing out today’s wishes is Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star Viola Davis. I always love seeing Viola on the red carpet because she has an immense love of color. So thinking about Viola wearing this bold royal purple knit Jason Wu Spring 2021 RTW short sleeve fitted dress with a round neckline. This was was one of the few looks from this collection that I really did love and I feel like it would be a beautiful moment on Viola. The way the knit would hug her curves and the color would look against her skin I just imagine. A full short afro, defined eyes, bold red lips, black oil slick Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi 105’ patent leather and PVC pointed toe pumps, and a pair of Nakard Marabou ‘Bypass’ sterling silver set Ethiopian opal hoop earrings would make this look come together perfectly for what the AFI Awards red carpet should be.

The 2021 AFI Awards will be a virtual event with a benediction on February 26, 2021.

Fall 2020 Couture Round Up Red Carpet Wish List

Couture this season was VERY different. We saw designers tackle moving presentation digitally in vastly different ways. Dior did a short video editorial and showcased petite mains work on miniatures. Hobeika recorded a show without an audience from his home in Lebanon. Ralph & Russo showed a mix of in person shot lookbook, a digital spokesmodel, and sketches. And most showed smaller paired down collections shot in lookbooks. I would love to see many of these looks on the red carpet so I am hoping that we start seeing red carpets return soon. Two seasons worth of looks are already headed to the archives without being worn. So check out the 61 wishes below I would love to see brought to life on the red carpet from the Fall 2020 Couture collections.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Tre Piani”

Italian director Nanni Moretti is hardly a stranger to Cannes. His kitchen-sink drama The Son’s Room picked up the Palme d’Or in 2001, and he served as president of the jury in 2012. His next film, Tre Piani, is Moretti’s first adaptation of another source material, lifting from an Israeli book by Eshkol Nevo. Moretti relocates the setting from Tel Aviv to Italy, telling the story of three families in different apartments in the same condominium, all of whom are suffering crises that include child abuse, loneliness, and ruminations on a haunted past. With another Cannes regular, Alba Rohrwacher, amongst the cast it would have definitely been a strong contender to screen at this years festival. Alba Rohrwacher has walked the red carpets at all the major film festivals, Cannes included, in the past. So had Tre Piani been selected to screen at this years Cannes Film Festival I would have been interested in seeing what she would bring to the red carpet. When I think of Alba’s style almost all of the looks that come to mind are Valentino. So I went right to the Italian label for the two looks I wanted to see Alba wear in Cannes starting wit this black silk long sleeve floral digital print midi dress from the Valentino Fall 2020 RTW collection. Alba’s style is very simple and laid back. It almost always looks like she has put very little effort into her ensembles. So when it comes to styling I would have kept her center parted loose updo, no make-up vibe, and a pair of black leather Valentino ‘Rockstud’ chunky heel ankle boots to have kept this look in tune with Alba’s style. For the premiere I went a lot more dramatic with the look I wanted to see Alba bring to life at the Palais de Festivals picking this bold red chiffon and velvet caped Valentino Spring 2020 Couture gown. Alba is much more about simple silhouettes and more of a casual vibe on the red carpet. This gown is not that. Now I know that Alba isn’t going to walk the red carpet with bare breasts, but I’m not sure the right way to cover them without losing the integrity of the look. Taking the velvet all the way up to the neck while keeping the sheer panels on the cape would definitely keep this look within Alba’s sense of style while pushing her boundaries at the same time. With this look being so bold I might as well make the styling just as fantastical with a sleek side parted updo, very simply defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Baba Plateau’ chunky heel platform sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and ruby arabesque cluster earrings. It all would have made sure that Alba would have had her best red carpet moments ever. I was really hoping that sense Ana De Armas is the new Bond girl and Chopard is the official jeweler of the new Bond film No Time To Die that we were going to see the label fly her out to walk the red carpets at the festival. I have really enjoyed getting to know Ana’s sense of style on the red carpet and I feel like had she made her Cannes Film Festival debut this year she would have done so in high style. My first wish for Ana to wear in Cannes was a big princess moment. So now I have something just as statement making but more streamlined with this black, blue, white, and pink watercolor print Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture strapless fit to flare mermaid gown. This look is super glamorous and definitely a statement look. I would usually either go for a big skirt or a long train for Ana, but when I saw this gown I was sold. I would imagine this gown with a sleek wavy updo, thick defined eyes, bright matte pink lips, a pair of black satin Aquazzura knot detail ankle strap sandals, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond, pink sapphire, and ruby collar necklace would definitely have turned this gown with a simplistic silhouette into a MAJOR fashON moment for Ana to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Brazilian supermodel Izabel Goulart is a friend of Chopard and always jets to the French Rivera to promote the brand on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. She always knows how to bring sexy glamour to the red carpet, but instead of a standard super sexy model gown I decided I would go for something more ethereal for Izabel with this wish. I saw this emerald green Zuhair Murad Fall 2019 Couture draped gown which features an asymmetrical bodice, intricate beaded embellishments, a single caped sleeve, a sash detail off one shoulder, long train, and a thigh high split and it really spoke to me for Izabel. I really do think that this would have been the perfect glamour moment for her to have brought to life in Cannes. Now Izabel almost always has her perfect waves over her shoulders, but with this neckline I really would have wanted to see Izabel wear her hair up with this gown. Finishing the look with defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of emerald green satin Alexandre Vauthier crystal embellished simple ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a pair of dazzling emerald and white diamond chunky drop earrings and a statement white diamond and emerald cocktail ring would have definitely made sure that this look was sensual yet elegant glamour defined from head to toe. Now in contrast from one model to another I went from demure sensuality for Izabel to uber sexy for Natasha Poly. I LOVE seeing Natasha on the red carpet. She knows how to ooze sex appeal on the red carpet and usually does so in your typical sexy labels including Atelier Versace, Hugo Boss, and Alexandre Vauthier. I was looking for something wow for her to wear in Cannes this year when I saw this white Maticevski Fall 2020 RTW ‘Lovelorn’ partially lined sequin embellished tulle gown which features a slim fit, draped silhouette, asymmetric neckline, gather accent, and aside slit. The gown is definitely super dazzling and super sexy. I just know that had Natasha been able to bring this gown to life in Cannes that it would have been a MAJOR moment. She would have ROCKED this look with a sleek ponytail, super smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of white satin Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of major de Grisogono jewels including a white diamond and emerald spiral collar necklace with asymmetrical multi-shaped drops and a statement white diamond and emerald cocktail ring. The final look for today is easily one of my favorite wishes from this years Cannes wishes. I was really looking forward to seeing Viola Davis make her Cannes Film Festival debut this year as a L’Oreal Paris ambassador. When it comes to the red carpet Viola always gives us something super glam on the red carpet. I’ve always wanted to see Viola wear Elie Saab Couture on the red carpet, but she hasn’t ever worn the label. I actually looked back at all my wishes for Viola since I started If I Was A Stylist and found 5 wishes with Elie Saab gowns and now this makes it 6. I have been in love with this gold liquid sequin one shoulder Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture avant garde bow detail a-line gown with a sweeping train since it was first presented last January. Honestly I’m SHOCKED that this gown has made it through the tail end of last years awards season, Cannes, Venice, and all of the 2020 Awards season without being worn. The looks screams Hollywood glamour and I just know that Viola would have exuded glamour on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. A vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, deep ruby red glossy lips, a gold metallic python Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ faceted clutch, gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Paulette’ braided knot metallic leather ankle strap d’orsay sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection tsavorite, ruby and sapphire intricate detail drop earrings would have definitely made this look modern Hollywood glamour defined.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Between Two Worlds”

Respected screenwriter Emmanuel Carrère’s second film Between Two Worlds, starring Juliette Binoche as an investigative journalist who goes undercover as a cleaner to probe social precarity in the northern French port of Caen, had been submitted for consideration for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival official selection. His debut feature The Moustache premiered in Directors’ Fortnight in 2005 and Binoche is a figure we often see in Cannes. It could mean for a super glam red carpet moment. To make sure that Juliette Binoche delivers all the glamour and elegance I know she can in Cannes I turned to two of her good friends. For the photocall I picked this periwinkle blue Burberry Fall 2020 RTW suit which features a sash cummerbund waist and straight leg trousers. It is definitely a super chic moment and I know that Juliette would definitely deliver modern boss meets ladies who luncheon look with that effortless glam moment on the photocall platform overlooking the French riviera. A pair of statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 “Orchids” earrings made of titanium and set with natural-looking sapphire petals, tsavorite buds, and black cabochon-cut opals, a wavy casual updo, simple defined eyes, rose pink lips, and silver, nude, and gold metallic and patent leather Burberry ‘Annalise’ pointed toe pumps would definitely bring the look together oh so glamorously for Juliette. For the premiere of Between Two Worlds I dug deep into the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture archives for the perfect moment for Juliette to bring to life on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. I saw this gorgeous black and white gown which features a structured bustier bodice, a criss-cross tulle halter neckline, and a long tulle train when looking for Gaultier moments I wanted to see on the Met Gala red carpet in the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2002 Couture collection. This look is super chic and timeless while also being perfectly on brand for Gaultier. It meshes sex and glamour perfectly and I know Juliette would bring this look to life styling it with a sleek side parted bouffant inspired updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Marlene’ strass ball ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a pair of white diamond and ruby chandelier earrings and a matching white diamond and ruby cocktail ring. So while Juliette is the only one in the film I have wishes for today I still have a plethora of wishes for you based on stars we typically see on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Kering, the corporation which owns luxury labels like Gucci, Balenciaga, and Saint Laurent, is one of the sponsors of the Cannes Film Festival. So we usually see a couple of stars over the course of the festival who walk the red carpet as guests of the company. Amber Valletta has been a good friend to Saint Laurent and Anthony Vaccarello. I decided to dive deep into the YSL archives to find the perfect gown for Amber to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. This black sheer feather embellished off the shoulder gown which features long sleeves from the Yves St. Laurent Fall 2000 Couture collection is perfectly on brand for what Saint Laurent has become, but still evoking that super ladylike glam of the YSL by YSL years. This look has that sense of sex appeal I feel defines modern glamour and I believe that Amber would be able to sell it to me with effortless ease. A sleek center parted bob tucked behind the ears, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Saint Laurent ‘Lexi’ ankle strap pointed toe pumps, and a selection of dazzling Anita Ko jewels (as Amber is the current face of the label) including white diamond ‘Rain Drop’ fringe earrings, and layered necklaces including a white diamond and emerald ‘Hepburn’ collar, and a white diamond herringbone ‘Zoe’ choker all would make sure this look oozes modern sophistication on the Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet. Supermodel Cindy Bruna knows how to bring the drama to the Cannes Film Festival. Over the years she has rocked the red carpets in superb moments from Balmain, Ashi Studio, Zuhair Murad, Georges Hobeika, Zac Posen, and more. Earlier this year Cindy rocked the red carpet at the amfAR New York gala wearing a hot off the runway Stephane Rolland Spring 2020 Couture white gown with a sculptural cut out detail on the thigh. It inspired me to turn to the designer once again for her to have a MAJOR moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I would love to see Cindy bring this bougainvillea pink satin duchess Stephane Rolland Spring 2020 Couture “Moon” sack gown which features a circle cutout at the neckline embroidered with crystals that turn to straps on the back, open sides, a half open back, and a dramatic cape back that turns into a long train. This look is definitely not easy to wear. There is a lot of fabric in this gown, and heavy fabric at that. It will definitely take someone with a lot of presence to really make this work. Cindy has that supermodel presence and I do believe that she would make sure that she is wearing this gown and that the gown isn’t wearing her. Now for most red carpets I would usually go with very simple styling allowing the gown to be the focus of the look, but this is Cannes so go big or go home is the mandate. So I would take this gown styling it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of hot pink Alexander McQueen ‘Nova’ rock crystal studded PVC strap slingback satin sandals, and MAJOR de Grisogono High Jewelry pieces including ‘Juicy’ cabochon rubellite, sapphire and emerald earrings and a complimentary Gaudi inspired cabochon emerald, white diamond, and ruby bracelet. It would definitely fit that mandate and make for a really MAJOR moment for Cindy. I have wishes for Marion Cotillard to attend the 2020 Cannes Film Festival to promote a film, but as she has modeled for Chopard in the last year I decided I wanted to pick a couple of looks for her to wear on the red carpet to help promote the high jewelry label on the red carpet. Now earlier this year Marion was announced as the face of Chanel, but I want to see her still give a little variation in labels as she makes multiple appearances at different events. That is why I went for sexy glamour opting to put Marion in this blush pink Atelier Versace Spring 2020 RTW sheath gown which features intricate bead, sequin, and crystal embellishments, a halter neck, and a super sexy thigh high split. This look is super glamorous and I know that Marion will bring the glamour to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. While I just said that everyone should go big or go home then I think that something simple silhouettes done right can be just as impactful. I think this would show you while being simple in silhouette the major moments comes from the vibes. This look would ooze glamour on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet which features a sleek beehive inspired updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of blush pink Aquazzura ‘Chain Reaction’ crystal embellished ankle strap satin sandals, and dazzling white diamond and light pink sapphire Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 floral drop earrings. Viola Davis signed her L’Oreal spokesmodel contract back in September of last year and Cannes 2020 was supposed to be her first as a spokesmodel for the label. It would have also been her first trip to the festival ever. It was hard to believe that given how many movies and Oscar nominations Viola has under her belt. Well nevertheless I am really excited to finally see Viola take her place on the famed red carpet at the Palais de Festivals as a L’Orealista when the time finally comes. I also went for a simpler silhouette for Viola for her debut look picking this navy, midnight blue, and red beaded organza Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture strapless column gown which features a light tiered skirt. This isn’t something I feel like I would have been drawn to for Viola for say the Globes, SAG Awards, or the Oscars, but Cannes means upping the glam factor and taking risks. I do think that Viola would definitely be able to bring this look to life on this red carpet with glamorous ease. I would love to see her style this look with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, ruby red glossy lips, a ruby red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ faceted box clutch with a crystal embellished clasp, a pair of deep metallic blue snake leather Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist Disco’ platform ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 floral collar necklace. All of these details would ensure that Viola’s Cannes Film Festival debut is glamour defined.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 18

We got a little scoop about the exhibition that will be the inspiration for the red carpet at the 2020 Met Gala thanks to British Vogue talking to the curator in charge Andrew Bolton. “About Time: Fashion and Duration,” says Bolton, will take a “nuanced and open-ended” approach. “It’s a reimagining of fashion history that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous.” Bolton plans to make us think differently about fashion history, by dividing 160 women’s garments into two sections throughout the exhibition. The first section will be a timeline of completely black looks: “It’s a very rational, regulated chronology of fashion from 1870 to 2020, the timescale of modernity.” The second section will focus mainly on white outfits with added pops of colour. I am really excited to see what this theme will deliver on the red carpet. How will brands and stars will interpret the theme. Will they go avant garde or timeless?Over the years Bella Hadid has never been able to wow me on the red carpet at the Met Gala. It shocks me because usually just days later she is dialing up the glamour and making me fall in love with her all over again on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Instead of turning to one of the usual brands we see on the Met steps I decided to go with one whom doesn’t typically recieve much Met Gala love: Ralph & Russo. The British couture label knows how to deliver superb glam moments and this black tulle gown ornately embellished with black pearlescent and silver sequins in a stylized snake print design, featuring double satin draping and cut outs at the waist finished with tassels from the Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture collection definitely popped into my mind as a fantastic option to fit this years Met Gala theme. It is very much timeless, with an uber sexy twist. That is what I think Bella tends to deliver best on the red carpet. So I would love to see her pull this gown out of the archive and bring it to life on this red carpet. Depending on how it falls on Bella I might want to ask Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo to lengthen the train of this gown to make sure it is a super dramatic glam moment. I know that is exactly what this look would be with a sleek vintage inspired updo, thick winged lined smokey eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jewel Queen’ crystal embellished bow detail ankle strap sandals, and a pair of classic yet dazzling white diamond de Grisogono cluster earrings. Erdem Moralioglu, the creative director of his eponymous label Erdem, has taken once guest with him to the Met Gala every year for a while now. I always am excited to see who will be wearing Erdem on the red carpet. He typically takes a look from his fall collection and customizes it for the starlet he brings. In the past we have seen Erdem walk this red carpet with Rachel Brosnahan, Kristin Scott Thomas, Claire Foy, Alexa Chung, Lily Donaldson, Juno Temple, Lena Dunham, Ruth Wilson, and Felicity Jones. Since he has never dressed the same woman twice for a Met Gala I thought that this year would be the perfect time for Erdem to dress Emily Blunt. Over the years Emily has worn many Erdem looks. Mostly for more laid back events, but as I was looking at this layered embossed silk cutout tea length gown from the Erdem Fall 2020 RTW collection imagining it being made strapless and lengthened into a floor length ballgown with a sweeping train I knew that it was the perfect look for Emily to bring to life on the Met Gala red carpet. the detail is so subtle, but it really makes this anything but a basic black gown. To make this look scream glamour from head to toe I would style the look with a loose vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, thick lashes, pink lips, a dark emerald green crocodile leather Judith Leiber Couture ‘Cayman’ jeweled clasp clutch, a pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Kaitence’ jeweled bow detailed d’Orsay pointed toe pumps, and a magnificent antique 1930’s Cartier white diamond and emerald collar necklace. I mentioned yesterday that Etro has really exploded as a red carpet brand. I would honestly be shocked if we don’t see at least one Etro look on the Met Gala red carpet this year, and I am expecting a couple. Karolina Kurkova has worn Etro on the red carpet at both the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and I feel like it just makes since to see her wearing the label on the Met Gala red carpet. I saw this gold lamé Etro Fall 2020 RTW wrap style midi dress which features a super sexy plunging neckline, a center split, long sleeves, and a wide belted waist and my first thought was “that could be a Met gown.” The dress already gives Studio 54 disco vibes and I think that by lengthening the skirt so that it hits the floor but still maintains high low hem in the front would definitely be a superb moment for this red carpet. While I think a lot of stars will reference the 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50’s with their looks I don’t think that 70’s disco glam is something we will see a while lot of. I really do think that Karolina is the perfect person to bring this look to life with glamorous Veronica Lake waves, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a gold mirror sequin embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of amazing Buccellati jewels including a pair of flower-carved jade and white diamond ‘Fiore Verde’ pendant earrings and a statement ‘Pagoda’ cocktail ring in emerald, white, and yellow diamonds.Miley Cyrus has never worn the same label on the Met Gala red carpet, but I decided to have Miley walk the red carpet with the same label who brought her last year: Saint Laurent. I definitely think that Saint Laurent fits with Miley’s aesthetic lately perfectly. She has been giving a lot of grunge meets glam rock looks on the red carpet with her banged almost mullet like hairstyle she has been rocking lately. Now I do not expect that Miley’s hairstyle will change and I am not a fan, but with the right styling I might begin to really be on board with her look. I decided to start the look with this black number from the Saint Laurent Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a lace sheer tulle halterneck bodysuit and super skinny fit high waisted latex pants. Now Miley would definitely wear the look was it was presented on the runway any day, but for the Met Gala I would love to see the drama pumped up I would ask Anthony Vaccarello, the Saint Laurent creative director, to create a side bow out of black horsehair ribboning embellished with crystals and feathers and a latex sash to really bring to the glamorous drama to this super sexy moment. Adding the train as well as smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black and silver striped Saint Laurent ‘Zoe’ crystal embellished pointed toe d’Orsay ankle strap pumps, and a selection of Nikos Koulis ‘Oui’ collection jewels including simple white gold stud earrings with white diamonds and black enamel and a chic chain link necklace with emerald cut white diamonds, a statement emerald, and black enamel would definitely can imagine that this look is the definition of grungy glam rock. Viola Davis hasn’t walked the Met Gala red carpet in a decade. Her first, and last, appearance was back in 2010 at the “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” gala where she was dressed by Vera Wang. Over the years Viola has consistently worn super glamorous classic moments on the red carpet. Late last year Viola signed a major beauty contract with Viola Davis so I know that more and more red carpets from her are imminent. I would love to see her take the Met Gala red carpet this year delivering a superb glamour moment. As I mentioned a couple of days ago with my first Rodarte Met Gala wish that the label has never brought a woman of color to the Met Gala before. As I was picking looks from the brand I wanted to see on this years red carpet I realized I exclusively picked women of color to bring the brands moments to life on the Met red carpet. I had already imagined this stunning blue Rodarte Fall 2020 RTW draped hand painted floral print silk cape gown which features a criss-cross draped bodice, bias cut silhouette, and a dramatic cape in my mind for Viola and it just made sense for the look to be brought to life on the Met Gala red carpet. I would modify the runway version of this gown ever so slightly just lengthening the cape to make sure there is a really long dramatic train for the look. It would definitely be the biggest style statement Viola has ever worn, but I think that it will worn. A teased tight curl updo, defined eyes, bold red glossy lips, a metallic blue lizard leather Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of sky blue Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ crystal tiara embellished pointed toe pumps, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and sapphire floral paisley teardrop earrings would definitely make sure that Viola delivers the drama on her first Met Gala in a decade.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 1

Paris Fashion Week might be long over, but as red carpet events are being cancelled due to Corona Virus I thought well best not to let the wishes that danced around my head as I watched the livestreams of these shows and flipped through the lookbooks on Vogue Runway. As Robert Fripp once said “In strange and uncertain times such as those we are living in, sometimes a reasonable person might despair. But hope is unreasonable and love is greater even than this. May we trust the inexpressible benevolence of the creative impulse.” We must continue to embrace our creative and optimistic sides as we take in the news daily. So with that being said I am going to try and post a little more regularly. I am still trying to work out what content will look like moving forward, but it will all be focused on bringing a little bit of fantasy and escapism to my readers. As we are self-isolating and social distancing now is a great time to engage with posts and start conversations.
