2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Check out all these looks I would have loved to see on a red carpet at a regular Critics Choice Awards. The wishes below are a mix of nominees, presenters, and members of productions that are nominated. I am missing all the glamour and drama of awards season, but I am hoping that there are going to be some major fashion moments tonight.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

The Critics Choice Awards are coming up and I cannot wait to see what they will bring. I was excited by the Golden Globes and aside from one star in jammies and a couple of the guys in hoodies everyone put in the effort. I want to see that effort continue all through awards season. The outlook of the world is getting better and better every day and I want to see everyone who is nominated for and attend the Critics Choice Awards put forward maximum effort. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her role in Emily in Paris Ashley Park will also be a presenter at this years Critics Choice Awards. I hope that she will show up to the studio in person for her presenter duties before she heads back to a hotel room to Zoom into the show for her category. Though they might not even announce this category live. So I really want her to show up and give a BOLD glamour moment. I think that this red chiffon Zuhair Murad Spring 2021 RTW sleeveless gown which features intricate feather inspired beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split is exactly what I want to see Ashley bring to light on the red carpet. I don’t know much about her style, but I feel like since she is working with major power stylist Erin Walsh that anything is possible. I would love to see Ashley take this super glam gown and boost it up with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, rose pink glossy lips, a red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of red suede Stuart Weitzman ‘Ellsie 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Forevermark jewels including white diamond ‘Black Label’ chandelier earrings and a white diamond ‘Exceptional’ double halo set pear shaped cocktail ring. I had picked this powder blue one shoulder Tony Ward Spring 2021 RTW draped jumpsuit with a big bow detail and a train before I saw Gillian Anderson rock Dior Couture for the Golden Globes. I was impressed that I actually feel in loved with Gillian’s Dior moment, and that was a huge shock for me. After that moment this jumpsuit seems beneath her, but with their new PR guy I know that Tony Ward is looking to rebrand as a serious red carpet contender. I feel like it would be a super chic moment for Gillian and one that is out of her usual scope. It is chic and glamorous, but with a twist. This jumpsuit wouldn’t be right for a nominee to wear for most awards season red carpets, but the more laid back vibe of the Critics Choice would make this a great moment for Gillian. I would make it a major glamour moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver Casadei crystal detailed slingback pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond heart detail drop earrings. Issa Rae knows how to deliver bold color moments and I would love to see her give another for the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Insecure. I found that color moment in this canary yellow silk faille Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 sleeveless trumpet gown which features a plunging neckline, big bow detail on the back, and a sweeping train. I’ve loved this gown since the moment I first saw the lookbook and I believe that Issa would easily make it a MAJOR fashion moment for the Critics Choice Awards. A sleek chignon updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of gold Le Silla ‘Gwen 120’ mirrored effect ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement vintage white and yellow diamond pendant drop necklace would all make this look come together beautifully. As it is the middle of the night in London when the award shows go live it didn’t surprise me that Olivia Colman opted for more of a comfortable Armani Prive suit for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. She’s never struck me as a big fashion girl and would much rather be comfortable than glamorous. While it will be a very similar situation this weekend for the Critics Choice Awards where Olivia is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Crown and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for The Father I still turned to a gown. I thought this simple white crepe Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2021 ‘Ursula’ column gown with an asymmetrically draped short cape and silver sheer crystal embellished sleeves would be a very chic moment for Olivia to wear for the Critics Choice Awards. Now in lockdown I think that Olivia will wear it with her signature short pixie, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of hotel slippers; but had there been an actual red carpet I would have added a white satin Tyler Ellis ‘Piper’ silver hardware detailed clutch, a pair of white leather Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and a bit of dazzling sparkle via vintage white diamond chandelier earrings from Jewellery Discovery. Riz Ahmed skipped out on the Golden Globes, and when you are in the same category as Chadwick Boseman you have to know that the likelihood that you are going to win is slim. That being said I missed seeing what look he would bring to the “red carpet.” I would love to see him Zoom into this weekends Critics Choice Awards wearing this black Givenchy Pre-Fall 2019 tuxedo with a silver zipper detailed “button down” shirt. It is classic with a very subtle edgy twist with that I think would be perfectly in line with Riz’s style. A sleek pair of black box leather Givenchy ‘Austin’ chelsea boots with metal tips and an Omega ‘Speedmaster Skywalker X-33’ watch would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 15

Well. The 2021 Golden Globe Awards are tomorrow night. In a normal world there would be a ballroom packed full of stars, but well COVID has killed that for all of awards season this year. So instead of writing about the stars who are part of the casts of films and television programs that are nominated, plus ones, and people whom I would usually expect to see on this red carpet I thought I would just put a gallery of wishes together. So as the words to “Audition” from LA LA Land goes “Here’s to the fools who dream, foolish as they may seem.”

2020 E! People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place this weekend. Aside from one blip with the Emmy Awards I have been more and more impressed with every awards show that has taken place during the COVID pandemic. I don’t know what we are in store for in terms of how the show is going to go, but we have been seeing lots of great things about come out about who will be there. Today we kick off my wishes for this years event starting with my picks for this years hostess, Demi Lovato, to wear on the “red carpet” and the stage over the course of the evening. I don’t know what a “red carpet” would look like for this years People’s Choice Awards, but I went for something really glamorous for Demi if there is a red carpet to walk. I don’t really think of the People’s Choice red carpet as one that calls for a gown. I usually think of great cocktail looks instead, but when I was compiling options for Demi I loved the idea of her wearing this black Zuhair Murad Spring 2020 Couture gown which features a gold beaded bodice, sheer paneling, and a plunging neckline. It is definitely more than we expect to see on this sort of red carpet, but I feel like in a year where we have been starved for glamour that this is a great option for Demi to kick off her lewks during the E! People’s Choice Awards. I would love to see Demi finishing this look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark glossy rose pink lips, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist Disco’ ankle strap platform sandals, and Hanut Singh ‘Deco Fans’ drop earrings made up of rubies, white diamonds, and vintage blush pearls with gold chain detailing. For the actual show I’ve picked six wardrobe changes for Demi to rock over the course of the night while hosting the People’s Choice Awards. I went for color, dazzle, and glamour in all of my picks for Demi. To kick the telecast off I went for a super dazzling orchid pink sequin Retrofete ‘Edith’ mini dress which features a plunging neckline, oversized draped sleeves and subtle ruching on the skirt. I feel like Retrofete is a great choice for Demi. They are known for dazzling sequined looks and I can definitely see Demi rocking this dress. It fits the more relaxed glamour vibe that we typically see from the People’s Choice Awards and I would love to see Demi style it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, glossy blush pink lips, light holographic gold leather and nude mesh Christian Louboutin ‘Degra 2019’ spike studded pointed toe pumps.

Look number two I would love to see Demi wear during the telecast is another dazzling sequin moment. I had originally picked another orange look for Demi, but then I saw this tangerine orange sequin Alex Perry Fall 2020 RTW ‘Blaine’ strapless mini dress which features a floor length side sash detail. I saw it and I was immediately sold. It is fun and glamorous. I know this would be another major moment styled with a center parted wavy bob, smokey eyes, light pink lips, a pair of gold Versace snakeskin ‘Medusa’ platform ankle strap sandals, and a statement Marina B ‘Lalli’ collar necklace made of citrines, 18K Yellow Gold, and black enamel.

I went with a lot of off the rack looks for Demi. I’ve never really seen her as a huge runway girl. Now that being said, I do think that she rocks a lot of super high fashion labels. One she loves to rock in her personal style a lot is Balenciaga. So I felt like I had to dig through the virtual racks to find a major moment for her to wear on the People’s Choice Awards stage. I found that moment with this black crushed velvet Balenciaga long sleeve mini dress which features an asymmetric design which offers a figure-framing fit down one side and a caped silhouette on the other. It is a really cool dress that I think fits the heritage of Balenciaga in a very modern manner. Since color was my main objective with picking looks for Demi I thought that this look would be perfectly styled with a pair of fuchsia satin Jimmy Choo ‘Liu 100’ half d’Orsay stiletto sandals. A sleek updo, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of Anabela Chan ‘Ruby Lily’ cluster drop earrings in 18k rose gold hand-set with an array of laboratory-grown synthesised and simulated gemstones including two oval-cut ruby garnets, pink sapphires with rose tourmalines would add the perfect finishing touches. Now I went for mostly solids in my options for Demi, but when I was looking at this white Versace Fall 2020 RTW slip dress which features zebra print detail on the neckline and slash cutouts I definitely thought it would be a super chic yet fun look for her to wear on the People’s Choice Awards stage. It is a good dress with just a fun detail. I decided to continue the zebra print out of the dress and into the shoes opting for a pair of zebra print Jennifer Chamandi ‘Vittorio’ pointed toe slingback pumps detailed with yellow straps and from the yellow straps I was inspired to add a pair of ombre yellow crystal Dannijo ‘Asher’ chandelier earrings to continue the fun color theme of my looks. A sleek bob, defined eyes, and nude lips would finish this look perfectly.

Christian Siriano is a designer we’ve seen dress Demi a couple of times so it didn’t surprise me that in the end I really did want to see her rocking one of his designs on this stage. This red bubble cape and hem mini dress from the Christian Siriano Spring 2021 RTW collection is the only next season look I picked for Demi and I really think it would be a fun glamour moment. It is less of the laid back vibe I went for with some of the other choices and I feel like it is a good change of pace to showcase in a night full of multiple wardrobe changes. Because of all the volume of the look I would keep the styling simple adding just a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of black, white, and red geometric pattern Christian Louboutin ‘Kate 100’ patent leather pointed toe pumps.

To close out the show I decided to go FULL GLAMOUR opting for this fuchsia Tom Ford silk-satin draped tea length gown which features thin straps, plunging neckline, and an asymmetrical skirt. It is such a really great gown and Demi loves an off the rack Tom Ford moment, so I think it would be a great moment for Demi do finish out the night hosting the 2020 People’s Choice Awards. I would do a chic wavy bob tucked behind one ear, defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of black Tom Ford mesh peep toe sandals with a PVC slingback strap, and a pair of dazzling Gismondi 1754 ‘Cascata’ collection white diamond chandelier earrings.

This whole line up would definitely make sure that Demi delivers major fashion moments from the moment the evening begins until she signs off at the end of the telecast. Which wish is your favorite?

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place on Sunday November 15, 2020.

2020 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Tomorrow night are the 2020 pandemic version of the Billboard Music Awards. The awards are finally happening, in a virtual event, after being postponed earlier this year. I don’t know what to expect, but there are some major names in the list of nominees and performers so I hope to see a lot of these stars over the course of the telecast tomorrow night. Check out some of the absolutely major moments I want to see these stars rock tomorrow night for the virtual “red carpet” and let me know which are your favorites and which ones you most want to see brought to life.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “Pieces of a Woman” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Pieces of a Woman stars Shia LeBeouf and Vanessa Kirby in a story about a grieving woman embarks on an emotional journey after the loss of her baby. It will be screening this year at the Venice Film Festival this year. This film was another that I included in my wishes in my What Could Have Been in Cannes wishes. This list is a little different than that because I’ve dropped Shia from these wishes in favor of Sarah Snook. I would love to see the English and Australian actresses make the trip to Venice to promote the film since Shia won’t be able to get into Italy due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The two looks I picked for Vanessa Kirby to wear for the Cannes Film Festival, had the film been selected and the festival actually been screened, would both be great for her to wear in Venice. Though I decided to start shopping for two new looks. Neither of the new looks I’ve picked for Vanessa to wear in Venice were presented after I made my wishes for What Could Have Been in Cannes. For the photocall I went with picnic glam with this red and white gingham Balmain Resort 2021 suit which features a cropped jacket with a tied front and high waisted wide leg pants. I always want to see Vanessa bring bold style statements to life and I feel like this would definitely be perfect. A sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, a defined eye, soft nude pink lips, a white t-shirt, a pair of red croc embossed patent leather Miu Miu pointed toe t-bar meets sling back meets ankle strap pumps, and Mateo New York ‘Right Angle’ pearl and white diamond stud earrings would make this look the right balance of high fashion and effortless glam. For the premiere I went with a dramatic caped creation from the Valentino Fall 2020 Couture presentation which features a plunging squared neckline, tie detail at the waist, a flowing skirt, and cape sleeves. It is a little bit more of a dramatic look than we are used to seeing from Vanessa, but I really want her to go big or go home. With the whole Valentino collection being made in white for the presentation allows it to be a blank canvas. I thought of saying I wanted the color of the gown changed, but the styling I had in mind would definitely compliment the white gown. Now of course to make this look red carpet ready it will need to be remade for Vanessa since she isn’t 15 feet tall. But I think that once the gown is made for her in white styled with a sleek updo, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Milla Jewel’ crystal trimmed sandals, and a statement Cartier High Jewelry [Sur]naturel collection white diamond, onyx, and emerald drop necklace that Vanessa would bring major glamour tomorrow night. This fall was going to be really big for Sarah Snook. She has a film screening at a major international film festival and she just got nominated for an Emmy Award. Now while the Emmy’s have cancelled their red carpet, Venice has not. There is currently no restriction that I am aware of on Australian’s entering Italy. So I would love to see Sarah make the trip and help promote Pieces of a Woman. I’ve been looking at her red carpet looks over the last year and it gives me hope that she has the potential to be a red carpet heavy hitter as she becomes more and more prominent. For Venice I went with two major color moments for Sarah starting with this hot pink Christopher John Rogers long sleeve asymmetrically draped calf length dress. I’ve been loving seeing CJR on the red carpet and I feel like this really bold color moment would be perfect for Sarah. I love a redhead in hot pink and styling this dress with a sleek side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of pearl pink Jimmy Choo ‘Jenique’ peep toe crisscross platform sandals, and three tone Swarovski crystal Roxanne Assoulin drop earrings would be perfection. For the premiere I went with another color I love to see redheads in, emerald green. This Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2020 off-the-shoulder metallic silk-blend plissé gown which features a sweetheart neckline, intricate pleating, and cape sleeves is GORGEOUS. Now It wasn’t until I was writing this list that I realized that I picked gowns with cape sleeves for both Vanessa and Sarah, but this Zuhair gown is perfect for the actress. I just know how good this look could be with a sleek retro updo, soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, an emerald green crystal embellished Serupi clutch, fun emerald green and black Casadei leopard print asymmetric slingback sandals, and a selection of Gismondi 1754 jewels including a pair of ‘Rugiafa’ white diamond and emerald drop earrings and a statement one of a kind 16.41ct emerald and white diamond cocktail ring.Aside from the look I’ve picked for the closing ceremony to come this is my last wish for Venice Film Festival jury president Cate Blanchett to wear over her reign this year. I’ve long wanted to see Cate wearing this soft seafoam green Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture strapless tiered ballgown which features intricate beading and 3D floral embellishments. I feel like that this gown screams glamour and elegance and I just know that Cate would bring it to life in the perfect manner. The gown itself is enough, but I would love to see her step onto the Lido red carpet with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Max’ peep toe stiletto ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection collar necklace. It would just exude classic glamour from head to toe. Again, I didn’t realize I picked another cape sleeve gown for this post when I picked this watermelon pink Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture gown for Ludivine Sagnier to wear on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. I do absolutely adore this soft flowing yet incredibly dramatic gown which features an off the shoulder portrait neckline, a crisscross pleated bodice, belted waist, flowing semi sheer skirt, and of course those caped sleeves. It screams glamour that it delivers and I feel like Ludivine would make sure that it gets the red carpet moment it deserves especially if she styles it with a gold rock crystal studded Elie Saab minaudiere, a pair of gold strappy Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ sandals, and a vintage Cartier white diamond and ruby garland necklace. Model Madisin Rian is one of the faces of Armani Beauty and we have seen her representing the brand on the Venice Film Festival red carpet for the last two years. She’s worn some beautiful looks at the festival, but she’s never WOWED me. I love her look and I would love to see her dazzle on the red carpet at this years edition representing both the past and present of the brand. Let’s start with the past. I found this black silk satin mermaid gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2005 Couture one shoulder gown which features delicate crystal embroidery, fringe details from the bust, and a sweeping train and definitely feel like it would be a MOMENT for Madisin. This is the same collection that Laura Dern pulled her Oscar gown from earlier this year. I wasn’t a fan of that tasseled moment, but I do think that this gown on Madisin with her shaved head, smokey eyes, bold red glossy lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi cutout sandals, and simple white diamond drop earrings from Gismondi 1754 would be a really glamorous moment. I always say that vintage can feel now if it is styled correctly. I think that is what would happen with this archive Armani Prive gown on Madisin. Now for the present of Armani Prive I would love to see Madisin give us a colorful gown with VOLUME wearing this sapphire blue and emerald green feathered spaghetti strap scoop neck ball gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection. It’s definitely a bigger silhouette than we are used to seeing from Madisin, both gowns are to be honest, but I feel like she has the presence to really make this gown come to life on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Style it with the same beauty and shoes from the first look adding a pair of emerald, sapphire, and white diamond teardrop pendant drop Gismondi 1754 earrings and I know she could be a real Best of Venice contender.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 BET Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The red carpet at the BET Awards isn’t exactly known for it’s high fashion moments. When I Google Image search the event only two of the “top tier” fashion labels show up at the top with a Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress on Ciara and a Prabal Gurung ensemble on Yara Shahidi, both from the 2019 event. I always hold out hope that someone will WOW me on this red carpet. I’m not saying it hasn’t been done before, but big fashion moments are far and few between. As I’ve said over the past couple of days my wishes for the 2020 BET Awards are picked not with the idea of the Zoom ceremony, but for what the red carpet might have looked like had an in-person actually happened. So definitely escape to what could have happened had COVID-19 not sent the event digital. Beyonce nabbed four BET Award nominations along with her daughter Blue Ivy’s first. Bey doesn’t do a whole lot of red carpets anymore. She opts instead to rock some glam in an at home photo shoot and then sneak into events through the side door. So I mean I would love to see her still do some major glam for the virtual BET Awards since it fits right in with her MO as of lately. I always love seeing Beyonce wearing Elie Saab designs on the red carpet and I definitely think she would have brought this champagne gold intricate sequin embroidered mermaid gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture collection which features a plunging neckline with a sheer yoke (that would have to be made to match Bey’s skin tone, long puffy poet sleeves, a leather belted waist, and a sweeping train to life with effortless ease. It isn’t an easy look to pull off, but I definitely believe that Beyonce would be able to push through this dress and own it. A sleek updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi knot detailed ankle strap metallic leather sandals, and dazzling Lorraine Schwartz hand cut diamond cascading earrings would definitely have added the perfect finishing touches to this look. It might have been my subconscious remembering the orange Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress that Ciara wore last year for the BET Awards, but I picked a very similar dress for her to wear had she walked the red carpet this year. The singer is nominated for one BET Award this year and is very pregnant, so I don’t even know if we would have seen Ciara at this years awards had there been no COVID-19 crisis. But had she shown up draping this lilac Zuhair Murad Fall 2020 RTW one sleeve asymmetrically draped mini dress over her baby bump I definitely think that it would have been a glamorous moment. I would have ditched the belt as I feel over the bump it would have been too constricting. I definitely think that Ciara would have given us sexy pregnancy glamour wearing this dress with the lookbooks matching lilac ankle strap sandals, a romantic curly updo, smokey eyes, soft nude lips, and glamorous Niwika ‘Amane’ cluster earrings set in 18k white gold with blue chalcedony, amethyst, aquamarine, tanzanite, and green tourmaline.I know that Issa Rae has the potential to really wow me. She has, but it has been a while. Had she been on the red carpet at the 2020 BET Awards I would have loved to see her rock this red carpet on top form. I love this goldenrod asymmetrically sequin draped Aliette Fall 2020 RTW pencil dress from her stylist Jason Rembert’s own fashion line. I believe that that Issa would definitely have brought this dress to life in a major moment. She knows how to handle bold color and dazzling glamour on the red carpet and I definitely think that this dress would have delivered just that. The styling with it a sleek braided bun updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of yellow gold Sergio Rossi mary-jane inspired peep toe slingback crystal buckle detailed sandals, and Norman Silverman emerald cut white diamond hoop earrings would definitely have put the look together perfectly. Marsai Martin is a little boss lady. She is not only just an actress but at 15 she is already producing movies. I feel like it’s sad that she only received a nomination for Best Young Star because she hustles her way through Hollywood with the best of the “grown-up” stars. I went for something DRAMATIC for her to wear on the red carpet had one taken place with this fuchsia Pamella Rolland Fall 2020 RTW feather-trimmed sequined tulle one shoulder gown which features a fitted one-shoulder bodice, an asymmetric A-line high low skirt, and a dramatic train. Everything from the color to the silhouette to the embellishments makes this a perfect look for Marsai. The dress itself is such a statement that I would just style it with simple waves pinned behind the ears, smokey eyes, light antique rose pink lips, and a pair of silver Alexandre Birman ‘Lacy’ crystal embellished 4 strap snakeskin sandals would definitely have made this another major fashion moment for Marsai to bring to life on the red carpet.

Check out Part 1 of my 2020 BET Awards wishes here, and Part 2 here. The virtual BET Awards will take place on Sunday June 28, 2020 at 8pm on BET, BET Her, & CBS.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “The World To Come”

There was also strong buzz, according to Screen Daily,  around Norwegian actress-filmmaker Mona Fastvold’s English-language drama The World To Come about two women who forge a close connection despite their isolation in the mid-19th-century American frontier. Casey Affleck produces, under his Sea Change Media banner, and co-stars alongside Katherine Waterston, Vanessa Kirby and Jesse Plemons. With a cast like that I definitely would have wanted to see it screen in Cannes. It’s not often we see Katherine Waterston on the red carpet. She doesn’t do the awards season circuit and honestly we have seen her since the London premiere of Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald back in November of 2018. So given how rare her red carpet appearances are it would have been a treat to see her walk the red carpets in Cannes promoting The World To Come. When it comes to style Katherine is usually very simple and borderline plain. So I didn’t want to go for anything too intricate or overbearing. For the photocall I picked this superb black and white Dion Lee Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a crisp white hidden button collarless poplin cotton long sleeve button down and a pair of black wool blend relaxed straight leg cut out pants with gold chain waist details. I’ve thought this look was such a chic and modern take on classic dressing and that is what I think would have made for a perfect photocall moment for Katherine. Styled with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, and a pair of black suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 105’ pointed toe pumps I know this look would have been a sleek modern moment from head to toe. For the premiere I went for something a little bolder with this lipstick red Valentino Haute Couture Beijing Fall 2019 collection sequined loose fit gown which features dramatic puffy winged sleeves, a jewel neckline, and a sweeping train. While this is a little bit more dramatic of a look than we are used to seeing from Katherine on the red carpet I think that for a Cannes premiere one should always go big or go home. This look pushes the envelope on Katherine’s style just enough that I would keep the rest of the styling super simple with the same sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold matching red lips, a pair of red suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and simple white diamond and ruby two string Cartier teardrop pendant drop earrings. The World To Come is the second of three films that Vanessa Kirby stars in that I head Cannes buzz around. For her first film Pieces of a Woman I picked looks from Alessandra Rich and Alexander McQueen for Vanessa. For this second set of wishes I’m going to start with a glamorous photocall moment for Vanessa from the Altuzarra Fall 2020 RTW collection. I was honestly looking for the perfect person to wear this ensemble which features a rose silk charmuse asymmetrical long sleeve blouse and a two tone carwash pleated a-line midi skirt with a sexy thigh high split and thinking of it on Vanessa I was sold. So styling this look with a pair of rose pink satin Sergio Rossi crystal studded buckle detail slingback mid-heel pumps, soft waves tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and diamond stud earrings would have definitely made this an absolutely gorgeous photocall moment for Vanessa. Now for the premiere I upped the drama picking this black Elie Saab Fall 2020 RTW strapless a-line gown which features intricate feather, pearl, and bead embellishments, sheer skirt, and a sweeping silk bustle train. This look is that subtly sexy take on glamour and I definitely think that is what Vanessa’s style is all about. This would definitely have been a super glam moment for her to bring to life in Cannes with a sleek retro updo, thick defined cat eyes, bold red lips, black Jimmy Choo ‘Bel’ silver crystal embellished peep toe slingback sandals, and a small pop of color via a pair of vintage Cartier white diamond and emerald teardrop hoop pendant earrings. Each look would have made for a major turn in Cannes for Vanessa. I’ve always been a big fan of seeing Araya A. Hargate on the red carpets in Cannes. So much so that instead of the usual two looks I pick for L’Oreal Paris spokesmodels to wear in Cannes I’ve picked three. That’s honestly because in addition to L’Oreal Araya is a friend of Chopard and usually walks one red carpet during the festival for the jewelry brand. For this look I really wanted to use Paraiba tourmaline’s as the inspiration for my final wish for Araya. So I pulled this bright aqua blue asymmetrical one shoulder Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 Couture ball gown out of the brands archives. I’ve been in love with this gown since it was first presented and am honestly SHOCKED that it hasn’t been worn on a red carpet yet. I do think that Araya would take this modern take on classic elegance and make it come to life on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. A sleek braided bun updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver metallic leather Alexandre Birman ‘Lenny’ platform chunky heel sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a pair of white diamond and paraiba tourmaline teardrop pendant earrings and a white diamond paisley cuff bracelet would definitely make sure this look balances classic and modern glamour. My second wish for what I would have liked to see Kendall Jenner is nowhere near as dramatic as the Giambattista Valli Couture gown from my first. This black double satin Ralph & Russo Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrically draped gown which features structured organza and gazar frills, a thigh-high slit and a rosette corsage, enriched with jet and gunmetal crystals is very classically glamorous with a hint of va-va-voom sexy, but honestly that is what I think Kendall does best on the red carpet sometimes. I think that had she worn this gown in Cannes with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection chandelier earrings that this would have definitely been a red carpet moment for Kendall’s record book. I was really hoping for another trip to Cannes this year thanks to Chopard from Priyanka Chopra. The Indian beauty knows how to handle the festival red carpets and I was blown away by her gowns on last years red carpets. This years wishes for Priyanka were all about color and major necklaces. The first look I picked for her was a major electric blue sequin Valentino Haute Couture gown and now I’m digging into the Elie Saab archive for this major canary yellow chiffon gown which features a satin and crystal embellished strapless bustier bodice and a flowing skirt from the brands Spring 2008 Couture collection. This is one of the first collections I remember falling in love with and to this day there are many looks I still really want to see brought to life on the red carpet. I can imagine Priyanka making this a super glam moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, deep ruby red lips, a pair of bright yellow gold Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ strappy metallic leather sandals, and a statement yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection collar necklace to finally give this gown the red carpet moment it deserves.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “The Story Of My Wife”

Hungarian director Ildiko Enyedi’s The Story Of My Wife held Cannes promise, in part thanks to its French cast members Lea Seydoux and Louis Garrel. The Cannes habitués star alongside Dutch actor Gijs Naber in this adaptation of Marin Fust’s eponymous 1942 literary classic about a Dutch sea captain obsessed with the idea that his flirtatious French wife has been unfaithful. Enyedi, who won Berlin’s Golden Bear for On Body And Soul in 2017, last screened a film at Cannes some 30 years ago when she won the Caméra d’Or for My 20th Century. So with the push for a more balanced selection of male and female directors I would have loved to see The Story of My Wife screen at this years festival. Lea Seydoux has been in Cannes screening films, winning awards, and serving on the jury for almost two decades now. The French actress has always been one who has intrigued me on the red carpet. While I complain often about Louis Vuitton ambassadors and there red carpet looks I have to admit that Lea is one of the more successful spokemodels for the French luxury label. That being said I still didn’t pick two head to toe Louis Vuitton looks for Lea to wear to promote The Story of My Wife. Instead for the photocall I picked this cream Lanvin Fall 2020 RTW dress which gives modern 20’s meets 70’s vibes. The dress features a thin brand signature print throughout, intricate beading on the bodice and neck, long poet sleeves with ruffled cuffs, a drop waist, and tiered pleated mini skirt and I think Lea would make it an effortlessly glamorous moment for a Cannes Film Festival photocall. Soft retro waves, defined eyes, bright pink lips, and a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Call Back’ ankle strap pointed toe leather pumps would definitely make this a superb fashion moment for Lea. Now for the premiere I went for sleek sexy glamour with a custom Louis Vuitton long sleeve column inspired by this white and black bustier detail dress. The dress found in the LV online shop is super sexy despite the fact it is completely covered. Taking this mock neck dress with a long zipper down the back and making it into a custom gown completely covered in liquid sequins would definitely make this a major modern moment for Lea especially styled with a sleek side parted low bun updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white leather Louis Vuitton ‘Call Back’ ankle strap sandals, and a pop of color and femininity via Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 “Orchids” drop earrings earrings set with natural-looking sapphire petals and tsavorite buds reveal four black cabochon-cut opals. My second wish for Aja Naomi King following the major Nicolas Jebran gown I picked the other day is all about COLOR. I have been obsessed with this sunset orange Zuhair Murad Fall 2019 Couture draped gown which features an asymmetrical one shoulder neckline, ostrich feather trim, and a cape since it was first presented. Orange isn’t a color we often see on the red carpet which would have made this a super special moment for Aja to bring to life in Cannes. I wanted to really make sure that the looks I’ve picked for Aja screamed glamour, but in a new major manner. I would love to this gown styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of simple orange Jimmy Choo ‘Minny’ ankle strap sandals, and the sunset in earrings via sleek Chopard ruby, yellow sapphire, and diamond wreath earrings. It definitely would have made sure that Aja delivered nothing but bold, statement glamour in Cannes. I’ve mentioned that I always appreciate that Liya Kebede goes left of traditional for her red carpet looks. I would have loved seeing Liya give relaxed glamour wearing this black silk draped Stella McCartney Fall 2020 loose fit pajama set which features a cowl neck, oversized cuffs, crystal beaded appliques throughout, a paper bag waist, and wide leg trousers. There really isn’t anyone but Liya who I would even remotely think would be able to make this look work on the Cannes red carpet. With all that fabric work really has to be put in to be seen through all the yardage and I know that Liya would rock this look effortlessly. Her signature washed and dried vibe curls, barely there makeup, black Aquazzura ‘Panthere’ pointed toe cutout t-bar ankle strap pumps, and a pair of edgy glam Chopard Loves Rihanna Collection white diamond earcuffs would definitely have ensured Liya just oozed effortless glamour. I also went left of traditional Cannes gowns for Korean supermodel Soo Joo Park. The model loves to bring the unexpected to the red carpet. As I was looking for something for her to wear in Cannes to promote L’Oreal this year I saw this black silk faille Oscar de la Renta Fall 2020 RTW cocktail dress which features an asymmetrical one shoulder neckline, intricate voluminous origami draping, an asymmetrical hem, and exposed corsetry and I just thought of how cool a moment it would be. To pull off a cocktail dress as a major moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet you have to just ooze cool girl glam and I really do believe that Soo Joo has that vibe. To make this look major from head to toe I would style this look with a sleek center parted updo, smokey winged eyes, deep ruby red lips, a pair of black chiffon and satin Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Etoile’ big bow and crystal detail ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Messika High Jewelry including ‘Sirenetta’ asymmetrical white diamond pendant fringe earrings and a statement ‘Shirin’ white diamond art deco inspired cuff bracelet.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Memoria”

Thai auteur Apichatpong Weerasethakul has been a Cannes regular ever since his film Uncle Boonmee Who Could Recall His Past Lives won the Palme d’Or in 2010, but his latest film Memoria marks the first time he’s worked outside his own country. That itself is an exciting shift, given that Weerasethakul has been the foremost cinematic chronicler of his country’s mythological and historical identity. This time with Memoria, he ventures to Colombia to explore the experiences of a nomadic woman suffering from exploding head syndrome, which causes her to hear loud noises that don’t exist. The filmmaker has described the movie as another dreamlike descent into a lyrical world just a few degrees removed from the real one, while still immersed in real places and people. Tilda Swinton is a Cannes Film Festival regular and I am always ready for a Swinton sighting on the red carpet. Memoria is one of three films that Tilda had in the running to screen at this years Cannes Film Festival, and I was hoping to see multiple films from the actress in contention so she would bring several fashion moments to the red carpet at the festival. The first two looks I’ve picked for her are more on feminine side of avant garde thank we typically see from Tilda on the red carpet. For the Memoria photocall I would have loved to see Tilda snap up this periwinkle blue Maison Margiela Spring 2020 Couture dress which features a thin pussy bow neckline, intricate scrap details on the bodice into the skirt, long billowing sleeves, a pleated calf length skirt, and a PVC belted waist. The moment I saw this gown come down the runway back in January Tilda immediately popped into my mind. When she does take on femininity instead of her typically favored sleek tailoring I definitely get excited. I would finish this look with a sleek side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of periwinkle blue denim Aquazzura pointed toe mules with a crystal buckle strap to make this look head to toe perfection. For the premiere I was less sure about what I wanted to pick for Tilda, but as I started my search for the look I most wanted to see her bring to life in Cannes I fell in love with the idea of her wearing this pleated ruffled periwinkle blue, violet purple, and lemon yellow tye dye like Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture gown. It isn’t an obvious choice, but this is a look very few would be able to really sell to me and I believe that Tilda has that avant garde presence to be able to sell it to me. This would make for a major fashion moment for Tilda to bring to life in Cannes with a teased high coif, defined eyes, nude lips, bold yellow Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ satin bow detail pointed toe pumps, and a bit of sparkle via Chopard Red Carpet Collection white and yellow diamond cluster teardrop pendant drop earrings. Had Camila Cabello finally made her Cannes Film Festival L’Orealista debut I want her to do so in high style. So in addition to the aqua mini skirt with a train from Elie Saab I wished for a couple of days ago. The second gown I’ve picked for Camila to wear in Cannes also comes from a Lebanese designer. This metallic gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2020 Couture Egyptian eagle wing embroidered a-line gown which features a think criss-cross strap halter neckline, a V-cut at the bust, and a defined waist is super cool and I do think it would play well on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I would imagine that many of the looks from this collection won’t be worn because they verge a little too much on the costume-y line, but this one doesn’t. I think this gown takes the inspiration and translates it into a modern glamour moment perfectly. Now I went round and round on how I would style this look for Camila while giving her a different beauty look. Ultimately decided that a half up/half down curly and braided evening style, defined light smokey winged eyes, lips done in L’Oreal Paris Color Riche “Matte-sterpiece” matte lipstick, metallic gold leather Christian Louboutin ‘Impera’ laser cut strappy pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling white and yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection floral drop earrings would be the perfect finishing touches to this look. Catrinel Marlon has been on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet the last two years as a guest of Chopard. Given that she just recently shot another campaign for the luxury jewelry label I was sure we were going to see her again this year. The Romanian model is gorgeous and makes the festival rounds, but honestly I don’t get too excited about her looks. I don’t think she picks looks that flatter her. So I decided she needed some help so I decided to include her in these wishes. I am picking two looks for Catrinel from labels whom aren’t our red carpet regulars, as she doesn’t wear a whole lot from those big names anyway. The first label I wanted to include for Catrinel is this coffee and beige layered tulle Sebastian Gunawan Spring 2020 Couture strapless ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, high cummerbund waist, and layered details above the hips. I would did the gorgeous sequined chevron opera coat the gown was paired with on the runway though. It just doesn’t hit right for Catrinel, but I would style this look with a sleek retro updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed suede ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection scalloped lace collar necklace with a large teardrop pendant. I believe that this would definitely be a major moment for Catrinel to bring to life. In December 2018 articles dropped all over that Cheryl Cole had been dropped by L’Oreal Paris as a spokesmodel after working with the beauty brand for nine years. I was sad because in her tenure as a spokesmodel for the brand in Cannes she had delivered major moments. Now none of those moments had come in the last couple of years and were mostly at the beginning of her tenure with the brand. It was because of that news that I didn’t even wish to see Cheryl in Cannes last year, she didn’t show, but in September of last year I was shocked to see Cheryl walk the runway at the L’Oreal Paris fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. I’ve read that Cheryl is just a friend of the brand now, and I hope that means that in the future she will come back to Cannes and WOW again like she did in her early days at the festival. As I was looking for looks for Cheryl I saw this oxblood red Azzi & Osta Fall 2020 RTW column gown which features a ruffled asymmetrical one shoulder neckline, all-over sequin embroidery, and a thigh high split and fell in love with the idea of her wearing this gown in Cannes. It reminds me of the more sculptural and avant garde designs that Cheryl favored in her high time in Cannes and I thought it would make for a major moment for her festival return styled with a sleek side parted beehive updo, smokey eyes, L’Oreal Paris Color Riche creamy lips in ‘Raisin Rapture’, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Thaia’ suede and crystal strappy sandals, and simple sparkle via a pair of white diamond and ruby de Grisogono pendant drop earrings. Rounding out today is Zhang Ziyi who is also a global brand ambassador for Chopard. The Chinese actress is no stranger to Cannes and I would have loved to see her bringing the glamour to the festivals red carpets this year. Over the years in Cannes and otherwise Zhang has worn several Armani Prive gowns on the red carpet so when it came time to find the second gown I wanted to see Zhang wearing in Cannes it was an easy choice to pick this gold Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless ballgown. Now while picking the gown was an easy choice it was also easy to imagine this gown being modified removing the black velvet belt detail and the black tulle layer from the gown leaving just the golden bead embroidered bodice and the tiered gold tulle a-line skirt. While the black definitely adds contrast I think the more clean and classic elegance of the modified gown is much more in tune with Zhang’s sense of style. I would make this look scream glamour with a retro updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black patent leather and gold metallic Gianvito Rossi strappy pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 jewels including a pair of statement “Ginkgo” drop earrings composed of pear-shaped emeralds, tsavorites and yellow sapphires in shades evoking the foliage along with a matching cocktail ring.
